This takes me back to my early collecting days and all the excitement they generated.  Still love the Ouranosaurus planned scheme!

 I remember that you could get their Diplodocus for the lowest prices on eBay after a re-release was announced in 2014.
 This of course didn't last for long.

Following the classic era of Battat dinosaur collectables, there was a brief revival in 2014-15 when Dan Lorusso made a group of four new sculpts under the Battat Terra rubric. .......

 As a final remark it could be mentioned that Dan had sculpted another 8 models for the Terra series before he became ill, announced for 2015.
 We even had pictures of Europasaurus, Gastonia, Gigantoraptor, Majungasaurus, Nasutoceratops, Pentaceratops, Plateosaurus & Yutyrannus.
 But I cannot say where they are now.

Thanks for these closing comments, @postsaurischian . Yes, I remember that the prices asked for the iconic Battat  Diplodocus on eBay dropped down into the 300-350 USD range at that time, less than half of what they are now. Mind you, converted into Canadian dollars and then adding shipping, and some times duties, that placed them still at a lofty 500 dollars Canadian. Quite impossible for me. And then there was the persistent issue of whether or not Target would have allowed such large units on their shelves, to eat up precious shelf space. 

And then there was the disappearance of the 'missing' Lorusso sculpts that Battat received from Dan, but never released, following his death. I remember the sometimes almost frantic efforts to contact Battat by several members here on the DTF, but to no avail.  That's 6-7 years ago now, almost an eternity for us collectors so zeroed in on the new released of the 'here and now'. It would be gratifying for die hard Battat collectors like myself if they were released, say in this upcoming year, for old times sake. But, realistically, I think that they would be found to have lost a lot of their quality edge in comparison with HLG and PNSO and I doubt that they would sell all that well now on the mass market. Pains me to say that, considering how unique and almost esoteric these figures were when I started collecting back around 15 years ago, but things don't stand still for long, do they?

If I'm not mistaken, we saw the wire cores that had been fabricated for the last ones, that had never been built up.

I've always wished that Wild Past's female Tethyshadros' paint work had been up to the standard of the male's, with the white side stripes being integrated with the underside. The originals -

True and I think that their current release, the Scutisaurus, shows a definite movement in that direction.

I can assure you that she was rather grateful, though a bit irritated at having to wait so long to have the procedure done.

The three amigos, all survivors of surgery and thriving in their post-surgical existence:


Left to  right- post cranial seam covered, lips installed, tail seam hidden. As a rexophile, and an inveterate one at that, these three are the apex of my dinosaur collection, and the best of my many T-rexes. (It will be interesting to see how and if the new Showanna Tyrannosaurus stacks up against these three).

IMO, Eofauna's is currently the best Tyrannosaurus figure. When PNSO gets to release their lipped Tyrannosaurus, would you get it?

Normally, @Concavenator , my response would be 'No', for any one of a number of genera , as I don't need the expense of another acquisition of a close or relatively close copy of a figure. However, when it comes to the rex, I would consider buying it IF it had a different enough of a pose to fit into my Tyrannosaurus rex clan diorama. I confess, I'm a rexophile, obviously.
As a point of interest, I recently sent 'Andrea', the reclining rex of PNSO down to Bravo Models in Mexico to get her 'lipped'. The scalation on this figure was up to date enough to warrant this expense, IMO.

Forgotten rexes:

With all the excitement generated by the succession of Tyrannosaurs: Eofauna, HLG, soon to be available Showanna and the hoped for/expected lipped PNSO, some of the luminaries of the recent past are rapidly receding into the rearview mirror - PNSO's Cameron, Wilson version 2, the W-Dragon lipped rex (though Rebor's Kiss is staging a bit of a revival). Small wonder then that more marginal players have all but vanished. I thought that I'd bring back three from their unquiet graves - the original PNSO Wilson 1, the slightly feathered CollectA and the first HLG T-rex.

The HLG. I picked this up on a whim, even though it had received a cold shoulder, pretty much across the board.


The original Wilson, version 1. I got this one on the used market for a bargain price. Although fabrication technology and design accuracy has come a long way since Wilson's debut , I'm still rather fond of his paint work and even his rugged, gnarled appearance. There's no arguing about taste, they say.


These certainly aren't my premium rex exemplars, but I like having them around and trotting them out from time to time, for nostalgic value, historical interest and maybe a bit of contrariness.

Since the new blue HLG rex arrived , I've looked for the right companion with which to display it. For my taste, I think that I've gotten the one that pushes the right button. Obviously not the old HLG rex, but also not either of my two PNSO Camerons, lipped and non-lipped, because their very fine scalation is of the next generation and not really a good match for the older-style, more textured feel of the new HLG. The Eofauna Sue is of a quite different feel and visual impression. I decided for Winter Wilson, PNSO's 3.0 version of Wilson. Both are un-lipped, both have a rather similar textural feel - I think that they display nicely together:
