A strange new creature was just discovered.

Here's a famous Paleo Artists Sketch of the creature

ZoPteryx

What the [bleep]?! :o

I read the abstract I few days ago, but I clearly missed something, because I had no clue its jaws were so weird! :))  Seriously, which part of the abstract mentions this?  If its not a mutant individual, then this has got to be a radical new form of tetrapod jaw!

Makes pterodaustro's dentition look pedestrian by comparison :))

Oh, that thing looks Lovecraftian, all I'm saying.
Maybe a Deep One. :o

Splonkadumpocus

It looks to be some kind of filter feeder. The water is strained through the toothy gap in the upper jaw as the animal swims.

Here is a picture of the fossil for anyone interested:

CityRaptor

The body looks rather "normal", but that head looks truely bizarre.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Concavenator

That thing is freaking...wow...without words  :o

Gwangi

Some toy company needs to get on with making one of these ASAP.

paleoferroequine

Her's a better idea what everything looks like. Take a look at the maxilla,,,,strange.

Takama

This is definitely the weirdest Prehistoric Creature I ever seen.

Though I have to wonder if this image will change over the coming years.

One thing, the end of the phalanges should be hoof like, not claws.
