Megaraptorians finally.
I'm hesitant in getting one of them since I would have prefered a Maip...

Samrukia

i really like this idea with selling several figures as one. i think it creates opportunity to produce and sell smaller species, and it would benefit the brand and us.

a pack of Velociraptors would be super cool, for example

TheCambrianCrusader

Finally a megaraptorid! I really love how this guy looks def gonna try to pick one up. I'm a little concerned over how well its gonna balance tho.

Folks, remember there's the 11.11 sale going on AliExpress right now and some HLG figures can be bought cheaper (and TNG as well). I ordered the Pachyrhinosaurus myself, and would have ordered the Megaraptor too if it was on sale, but that wasn't the case. Will wait for another one.

If somebody's interested, here's my review of Apatosaurus.
"Dinosaurs lived sixty five million years ago. What is left of them is fossilized in the rocks, and it is in the rock that real scientists make real discoveries. Now what John Hammond and InGen did at Jurassic Park is create genetically engineered theme park monsters, nothing more and nothing less."

Sim

I wanted to order the Dilophosaurus and Megaraptor from My online toys store on Aliexpress, but their page is now in a language I don't know, even when the correct language is selected at the top of the page.  Does anyone know what is going on?

Sim

Well, I got past the weird language by changing the language to Italian which then showed the page in Italian and then changing the language to English which now showed the page in English.  I bought the Dilophosaurus and Megaraptor and I look forward to having them!

Odobenocetops

I really want a taxonimoc excuse to get that Megaraptor, but having a Tyrannosaur already it seems I already have this group covered...

Concavenator

avatar_Odobenocetops @Kangaroa Well, Megaraptor may (we're not too sure due to the scarcity of its remains) be a tyrannosauroid, but not a derived one. As a representative of a basal tyrannosauroid it would work. It's not a tyrannosaurid though.

Sim

I think it's premature to consider megaraptorans as definitely tyrannosauroids.  It's not been conclusively shown what they are.

Who knows. At least, their classification as such is the current idea and is backed by different papers (Naish & Cau 2022, Novas et al. 2014). More complete remains from members of this group would definitely help, though.

Sim

It's not true that megaraptorans being tyrannosauroids is the current idea as there isn't a consensus.  One of those papers is from ages ago (2014) which was published before more recent studies, and the other is just one paper by two authors.  It doesn't represent the views of the majority of palaeontologists.  Cau's specialism in theropods is noteworthy though, although equally the other theropod specialist, Mickey Mortimer, recovers megaraptorans as possibly non-tyrannosauroid coelurosaurs on The Theropod Database.

The reality is that all megaraptorans are very fragmentary and what little is known of them is generally unlike any other theropod type.  So I think it's unrealistic to classify them with confidence as anything other than theropods.  Outside of my opinion, the debate about what megaraptorans are has been going on for almost as long as they have been known, and it's still going on.

I've been classifying megaraptorans as tyrannosaurs for the blog and I shall continue to do so.  :)

Definitely not looking to pay extra $ for a base. I hope it can be purchased without it.
