This has probably been asked before, but if it was I missed it. Will there be a 2013 themed banner for the forum? The current banner is so 2012. :) Not that there's anything wrong with 2012, an excellent dinosaur toy year!

EDIT - here are the five banners to choose from:

A
B
C
D
E

I've been working on the new banner. I started it all and did the last two, so I thought that I should keep doing a new one each year. But I am waiting for some better quality photos from Papo and Collecta with no watermarks to make it. And the figures to put in the banner are not final, you guys can give your opinions and suggestion, it would be very welcome. Here's a preview of what I did so far.

Heh, you can about tell which releases and brands are the most popular by the banner each year.. lol

Use the Schleich Carnotaurus instead... ;D

Great idea Ikessauro 8) I would really appreciate that! I've split off this discussion into a separate topic :)

Yes, I think the two Papo critters look a little too faint in that banner, maybe we have to wait for better pics...

Why....?

To have a thorough mix of companies, I suppose?

Well, I added the big grinning smiley to hopefully make it clear that I was kidding. Plus, what about Bullyland (seriously this time)? We know there are a couple of sabre tooths, for example.

I thought you said they were awful, inaccurate!

I had assumed there was some kind of quality standard applied to companies for their models to make it into the banner. Arguably, Schleich does not make the cut.

Nah, there are no criteria for selecting models for the banner, other than the tradition that has developed that they be new releases. In fact, the more companies represented in the banner the better, I reckon :)

I don't mind the figures--I dislike the labeling (tiger and cat, respectively, for the machairodont and nimravid both of which are wrong).

not including Schleich on the banner this year would be justifiable.
"you know you have a lot of prehistoric figures if you have at least twenty items per page of the prehistoric/dinosaur section on ebay." - anon.

Adam is right, there's really no defined criteria for the models to be in the banner, although I always pick the ones that are the most popular and pleasant looking new releases. I don't think Schleich deserves a place in the banner this year, so I didn't include them. On the other hand I did come to the conclusion that Mojo has done something right with those mammals, so they get to be in the banner. Also, Bully didn't made anything really new other than the "cats" and they are not very cool figures, so I left those out too. But I did a new version of the banner now, with one of the cats. I did correct the Papos color a bit, I guess it's a lot better now.

Also, did a new (improved??) version of the first one...

DinoToyForum

I like it Ikessauro, You've done a great job with the Papo figures. It looks just a little empty compared with the current one, I think because it is missing the foliage on either side. Is there any new prehistoric flora out this year? If not, I wouldn't be opposed to reusing the ones in the current banner.

But hey, I'm getting used to it now, so maybe I'm just used to the old version! You know, I'm going to use the top one as the new banner as is, for now at least.  8)

I like the clear, cut-to-the core new banner. What I find funny (no offense!) is that only 1/3 of the figures in the banner are dinosaurs.
What brand is the Entelodont?

I agree, the new banner blends very nicely. :)  The entelodont is by Mojo.

The Entelodont is the new Mojo one... yeah, a bit too few dinos right? But hey, it's always good to try some new stuff.

I think the banner should be foliage free this year, since we have no new additions to the flora lines. It kinda ruins the idea of a new releases themed banner if we start to use old releases on it. Nonetheless, I did a new version with the trees.

It's one of 4 Mojo mammals this year (the others are hyaenodon, deinotherium and megacerops).
