Found a portion of my old dinosaur toy army from when I was just a little squirt. Not sure if anyone here recognizes any of these figures, probably pretty obscure. The oldest is the green Imperial sauropod from 1985! Predating me by a good decade!

This must be a Baryonyx? Imperial 1997.

A classic Parasaurolophus from 1991.

Triceratops and Chasmosaurus?

And last but not least two pretty generic sauropods: a Brachiosaur and the 1985 Imperial diplodocid.

And here is my new collection featuring the monster Sideshow Apatosaurus maquette that was a graduation present from years ago. I'm sure you'll all recognize the suspects here, recent PNSO, Eofauna and Haolonggood figures. My dad is a prolific comic and action figure collector, so I think he has been pleased seeing me fall into a similar addiction. 20240808_110624.jpg202408ss08_110624 copy.jpg

If I could only keep just one figure / model, it would probably be the Sideshow Apatosaurus.
And I like the original coloration much better than the second edition. Congratulations for having one (of 500)!

No doubt. It feels like a living animal on the shelf. And it's MASSIVE! It makes me happy there are super-giant Apatosaurus specimens out there like OMNH 1670 and OMNH 1331 that probably came from ~100+ foot long, 50-60 ton apatosaurs. It makes this huge model all the more satisfying.

Wow, a statue that's a holy grail for many collectors, and you're just starting out! The Sideshow Apatosaurus is an incredible find.

As for your Imperial theropod, according to this blister card back, they evidently intended it as Velociraptor!

Triceratops and Chasmosaurus?

I don't know about the one on the left, the frill would suggest it's a Chasmosaurus, but the brow horns are more reminiscent of those of Anchiceratops.

Can't comment on the retro pieces as I have no clue about them, but your modern-day collection is great. I always say a collection's worth is defined not by the number of pieces being present, but by the quality of the individual pieces that constitute it. And in regards to that, your collection is fantastic, even if it's smaller than that of most of us (even mine!).

I agree with avatar_postsaurischian @postsaurischian , the Sideshow Apatosaurus is absolutely magnificent. Not only is it still the finest Apatosaurus ever released, I also consider it arguably the most impressive dinosaur model ever released. It is that good. Congrats on that outstanding piece!

The herd is growing quite rapidly! Newest additions are The PNSO Tyrannotitan and Eofauna's Ankylosaurus. Pretty sweet to see Argentinosaurus along with all the others. It is a truly massive critter, especially noticeable in top-down view. I think this one figure outweighs the rest of my collection put together. Not surprising as the real animal would have as well.

Quite the contrast between that vast sauropod with his nose in the clouds and the big theropod with its nose sniffing the ground.

Even the largest theropod must bow to the king.

Humble beginnings have evolved into something more accurate and valueable. Nevertheless, I would keep the old treasures and cherish them forever! I would find it appealing to set them up side by side ^-^

Big fan of your collection! Few figures, but very high-quality ones.

I notice you aren't strictly a 1:35 scale collector, are you? Because in that case, PNSO's Stegosaurus, as well as Eofauna's/PNSO's Triceratops and CollectA's Borealopelta would be better fits scale-wise.

This figure really drives home what an imposing beast the real animal must have been!

I try to stick to 1/35, but I value scientific accuracy and overall artistic quality slightly more than perfect scale. The steg and the trike are definetly pushing more like 1/32 but they could easily represent very large males of their respective species. I really dislike the look of the PNSO Triceratops and Torosaurus just based on aesthetics. Since we have exactly 1 Borealopelta, we really have no clue what average size is for this species. The figure is certianly bigger than the individual we found, but it's not so far off as to be jarring.

And the PNSO Alamosaurus was my first ever figure, and still perhaps my favorite, so it gets a pass. I just call it a juvenile.  ^-^

The only figure who's scale is off enough to actually bother me is the Pentaceratops, love the figure, but its too huge even for a "Titanoceratops".

avatar_Ajax88 @Ajax88 The PNSO Alamosaurus is certainly a gorgeous figure, and one I think is overlooked because of its size (same goes for their Mamenchisaurus as well as Eofauna's sauropods).

If it makes you feel better, PNSO's Alamosaurus might pass as a 1:35 (not super large) individual.

Sometimes I just consider it a Chucarosaurus so it can live next to my Argentinosaurus. Haha
