i received the Maiasaura today.  Quite a nice figure....one of Mattel's most realistic.  I wish it was a titch bigger but it's just big enough to look convincing with a 4 inch figure beside it.  I plan to lengthen the tail a few inches, then i think it will look decent beside BOTM figures.

So another day, another reveal. Collect Jurassic shared that there's a new Super Colossal Atrociraptor coming out. It's kind of colored like Delta is interestingly enough. Kind of wish we got a mainline scaled one with those colors as it looks rather nice. Oh and they showed it with the really old Battle Damage mini sculpts (which some of those were packaged with the human figures back in 2018, the ones with no articulation). Kind of weird seeing those molds after all this time.

An early listing has accidentally revealed what seems to be the SDCCC Exclusive for this year:

Spoiler
"Convention Crasher T. Rex"

The Buck Rex from the crowd fund with a "When Dinosaurs FANS Ruled The Earth" banner and the memetic inflatable T. Rex costume.

I hope I can afford this. Any guesses for the price?

Edit: A bummer they are making the buck a con exclusive though. Everybody should have had the chance to get this one. It's like the poor taste in the mouth the crowdfund thing did.

Just when I have ZERO extra money, my savings are reserved for a vacation trip with friends.

They were doing so good with SDCC exclusives these past years, cool sets but nothing essential to complete the collection...

It's a freaking repaint and slight retool of one of their best selling figures! Can't they make it a regular release?!

New variant of the Super Colossal Atrociraptor released;

Carnoking

I can't tell from the lone photo if it's the actual canceled figure or just a straight repaint of the old HC rex. If it's indeed a straight repaint, then that would be very frustrating after all the improvements Mattel has been making to the line. Either way, I won't be sleeping on this one, even if I'm still behind on Mattel releases.

Pachyrhinosaurus

The Rex looks promising. The more vibrant tan reminds me of the original '97 bull rex toy.

Appears to be different from the one from the Crowfunding project in some areas such as the paint.

Flaffy

I notice they strategically hid the feet behind the banner... I wonder if the Buck still has clown shoes. They certainly didn't update those ugly knee joints.

Regardless, making this figure an SDCC exclusive just feels wrong. I can't imagine why Mattel would want to make less money on such a popular character.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Teeth might the newer detailed teeth seen in other sculpts.  Feet look smaller? We knew that detailed paint f the the Kickstarter wasn't going to happen in a regular release.

They might release it again in the main line with slightly different paint though.  Call it the bull instead of the buck?

Noideaforaname

Can't say I like the Buck being an exclusive (at least it's not a $250 crowdfund...), but the inflatable Rex costume is an ADORABLE bonus!

I got the Aerial Ambush Quetz, because a pterosaur toy that can do both a flight pose and a walking pose is cool, right?

....right?

Well.... the shoulder joints are obscenely hair-trigger. I thought, oh am I accidentally tapping the "flap" button -- NO. Maybe I'm not clicking it in all the way -- NO. Every time I so much as breathe near this thing one of both of the wings spring open, then it takes another dozen attempts to close them back up again just for it to pop open when I put it back on the shelf.

Maybe I just got a bum copy but I am really damn pissed off by this toy. I had to return the HC Geosternbergia back when because it was jank, and it sure seemed like this Quetzelcoatlus fixed most every issue, but nope. *siiiiiigh*

avatar_Noideaforaname @Noideaforaname It's not just you. Every review of it I've seen has had the same issue with the wing being too sensitive.

That's really disappointing about the Quetz. I saw a video review where it did the same thing but was hoping it wasn't a widespread issue. If the Quetz cannot be displayed standing then I may not want it at all, it was the main reason I wanted it to begin with.

avatar_Noideaforaname @Noideaforaname I was worried about this after seeing multiple reviews that had the exact same problem. It seems a lot of these figures are pretty much just broken out of the box.
I got mine two days ago and it works perfectly. I can press considerably hard on the figure in a standing pose without the action triggering. I would guess I could probably stack 5-6 spare Owen Grady figures in its back before the mechanism triggers, so working versions do exist if you want to return it for a better one.
It's a shame it's not the type of action feature you can test while it's in the package to suss out the faulty ones.

Well, I got curious and after 10 minutes of playing Quetz Buckaroo, it turns out it mine can carry literally every human figure I have on hand. It could definitely carry more but all my spare Owen Gradys are in the attic.
This ridiculous tower of toys collapsed many times trying to balance them all, but the wing mechanisms didn't activate once, even as they all clattered around the Quetz.

This isn't to disparage the issues people are facing with this toy; it seems that a large amount of these figures are broken out of the box which is absolutely unacceptable. But this proves that there are some out there (or perhaps just one? XD) that do work if you want to try your luck.
