Huanghetitan is the best match!

Lana Time Shop wrote me that they expect the Hongkongsaurus to become available at some point in August.

Thanks for passing that along!

avatar_oscars_dinos @oscars_dinos It was stated that it was based off Diamantinasaurus (for its head) and Huanghetitan (for its body).

The figure itself is beautiful and I understand that it's a commemorative figure, a sort of special edition, but I hate this kind of approach from pnso. Here, releasing a chimerical figure (Diamantinasaurus head + Huanghetitan body) for an unnamed fragmentary dinosaur. All this because these are the first dinosaur fossils from Hong Kong, I find this more than exaggerated.

I can understand pnso's chauvinism for Chinese dinosaurs, but in this case, there are many other Chinese sauropods known from much more complete skeletons that would deserve a figure.

Otherwise I would have preferred that pnso directly produce a Diamantinasaurus figure, known from good cranial and postcranial remains, and for which we also have pieces of skin and gut contents. I cannot consider this "Hongkongsaurus" as a potential figure of Huanghetitan (too fragmentary), and even less as that of a Diamantinasaurus (due to the body proportions).

i fully agree with this, its just such a nice figure, so im willing to have it represent anopther species if its not to much of a stretch

I agree. I have the same issue with PNSO's "Sinopliosaurus".

I also hate the fact that PNSO use their models to make political statements, but considering that fact that they are state funded, it's really not a surprise.

If state funding (and therefore state... pleasing?) is the price to pay for PNSO continuing to make good figures, it's no skin off my back. Whoever wants a Hongkongosaurus would be happy, and all I have to do is just skip it, and wait to see what else PNSO reveals.

Yup, it's simple - when in doubt, opt out.

Nobody can deny just how beautiful it is. I'll definitely be getting one, any sauropod is a cause for celebration!

If it's an August release, does this mean we'll get a July one too?

Joliezac

This figure is beautiful no doubt about it. But sadly my sauropod shelf is pretty full, so I'll have to skip on it.

So is mine but that never stops me.

Just because I have a short attention span doesn't mean

I really like how you've handled those marine critters on that wall. They make a cool contrast/complement to those short shelves on the adjacent wall, avatar_Monkeysaurus @Monkeysaurus .

Awesome display!! I'd be so scared the whale would come crashing down  :*D

Did they suggest or state that it might be available on pre-order before then, T @thomasw100 ?
