A bit late to the party ... so there are action figures. Interesting ... I like the gorgosaurs and troodon , which I'll want to get at some point.

I am beginning to wonder...maybe the reason why the UK is getting these toys early is because the BBC owns the rights to the WWD name? Might it be something to do with licensing issues?

Interesting....

Given that the original WwD were only available outside of the UK (with poor availability at that) for a very short period, then easily available in the UK for several years after, it is probably a matter of where they want to distribute again.

There is the possibility that, like before, there may not even be distribution outside of the UK, or outside of Europe. It may also depend on who is making them. Toyway was a terrible company when it came to getting into markets.

If that turns out to be the case, it's lucky that we have the internet this time around ;) Makes it much easier for collectors to get their hands on rare models.

I figure they will be put on clearence at one point. Or simply disappear. And then sell for crazy prices after that.
I've seen both happening. Since one never knows what is gonna happen, grab them as long as you can.

I get the feeling that this line will end up on clearance after the movie leaves theatres. Kids love dinosaurs but there's no way that WW3D is going to have the same power as Jurassic Park (or a more modern toy line like Skylanders*) in getting sales.

*though I will admit Skylanders is a poor comparison since the figures are part of a video game, which drives their sales.

[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Exactly how rare will these be, though? Are they going to stop making them when the movie is over?

I've been browsing Amazon.co.uk for new dinosaur books...and I've noticed that there has been a slew of WWD merch released already, such as sticker books and handbook companions to the film.

They're definitely trying to get the hype train rolling.

sauroid

i just wish the dinos in the new WWD movie werent anthropomorphised/disney-ised

I will probably get the Dinopedia book, but not the others.

I dont think so. Marcel Delgado was mexican and Ricardo is Costarican. I dont see bad to see dinosaur characters. Not every animal is the same, all have different things like us. For me the best dinosaur characters are from dinosaur planet.
Off topic, but I just did a google image search for Ricardo Delgado and I got some....scary results :o

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no
