Ooh I saw that auction and didn't even notice the white plate Stegosaurus. Nice to see more pop up for sale, I remember not long ago people were trying to convince me I'd bought somebody's custom repaint at Noodle Kidoodle in 1998 😂

Also, why was it even made - it never fit in with the other extinct animals in the set.

I like the idea of including the blue whale; it extends the idea of the history of life to include notable animals of the present. Though I would imagine it was included because the museum's blue whale model is a popular exhibit.
