Love the sculpt, the paint job.You can't say that figure isn't unique right?  ;)

Good question. Should I add Xenoceratops to the Unique Species Thread?
It already needs an update because of the new WWD Alphadon, Alexornis, Parksosaurus and Hesperonychus figures if I'm not mistaken.

I really like it until it gets to the beak, then all I can think of are cuttlefish beaks. It looks like they put the jaw hinge in the middle of the jaw instead of at the back.

Exactly. I knew there was something off with that beak. Once again, an otherwise good figure by CollectA ruined by an anatomical glitch.

Oh dear, lots of work in store for me then, since I also have to heavily update most of the Yowies too.

Seems we have another Therizinosaurus!

Collecta are rolling out the remainder of their 2014 model introductions quite slowly, mainly as the ones we shall talk about in the next few weeks are going to be available later in 2014 than the first set of models already announced.  Anyway, we have permission to show and discuss the new 1:40 scale Collecta Deluxe Therizinosaurus.

Anthony the designer tells us that he made this one more colourful as a male in full plumage, so that the smaller not to scale Therizinosaurus model introduced in 2012 might be interpreted as either an immature male or a female if they are put together.  The pose is an interpretation of a defensive posture.

Always forgetting to put the dimensions on - whoops.  The model is not going into production just yet, it will be available later on in 2014, but the model will measure 22cm tall and in total it will have a length of 28cm approx..  Based on this,  we are looking at Therizinosaurus being around 11 metres long which ties in well with the fossil material.

Absolutely stunning. This model is even superior to the previously released CollectA Therizinosaurus; the colors (plumage) are more defined, the head sculpt is more detailed, and the arm position (and anatomy of individual digits)... vastly improved.

Jetoar

Awesome Collecta figure again  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Actually, I agree. I vastly prefer the old one.

not sure why...this version is far more detailed when compared to the last rendition ??? (the level of detail is on par with Deinocheirus). Maybe, you don't like the 'defensive posture'?

Well, there's always Schleich  ;)

Another impressive high quality figure, I just wish they´d release some 1:40 sauropods of the same quality. :-\ Would love to see a decent Shunosaurus, Cetiosaurus, Mamenchisaurus etc. Won´t even ask for the really huge Titanosaurs in 1/40...

A high quality, updated 1/40 Mamenchisaurus by Papo, Safari Ltd. or CollectA would be a dream come true!

Simon

Well, well, well ... the smaller Therizinosaur is my favorite Collecta model figure ... this one appears almost as good - nicely detailed, but somehow the pose of the arms seems a little strained - maybe its the angle.

An "A" figure to be sure - just one question - didn't they get the feet wrong?  Shouldn't the 4th toe be much larger and contacting the ground?

I think this is a great figure, but maybe, if not fully feathered, I would have preferred it with a few superfluous feathers in less... and a more curved beak. ::)

Blade-of-the-Moon

Wow..I was waiting for a really awesome 1:40 piece..this one does it I think.  Looks really good...and the attack posture with the slicing motion looks to work well too.

I also think the smaller scaled one could be used as a juvenile..another reason to pickup that one if you haven't yet. Well played CollectA.

Of course this begs the question..will we get a 1:40 Tarbosaurus to accompany it ?  If so..VERY well played indeed.
