Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus

Well. I certainly love CollectA's additions this year! Definitely going to get some of these...

Thanks Spinosaurus and Concavenator :)

I updated page 1 with the new pics.

Now we're getting a nice amount of figures and spread out well over the year it seems. :)

I like the baby Rex,  colors pose and all look well done.  The dromeosaur look is probably because these young animals were more in line with them at this stage.  I think the tail looks short because of the angle and the thick feathers.  Falling over on those legs is a legitimate concern though...which seems highly likely to me unless they are putting some sort of thick wire in them ? Otherwise it will need a prop in the front.

The Gastonia...I don't have one so this will give me one and it looks pretty good. nough' said. ;)

Happy B-Day as well TQ !

Another new release this morning, we can reveal that the armoured dinosaur Gastonia is being added to the not to scale Collecta range.  Found in the same quarry in Utah where Utahraptor was found, Collecta have added to their Cretaceous armoured dinosaur portfolio with this Gastonia model.  Once again, likely to be available from Everything Dinosaur in the summer of 2014, as this  model is due for production in the spring.  Replica measures around 14cm in length.

I thought this was just a repainted Hylaeosaurus!

Nah..there are a few differences.. ;) lol

Oh, wow! I'll definitely be picking up the juvenile Tyrannosaurus figure! The Gastonia, Mosasaurus, and Icthyovenator are also promising, but I may have to see more photos before deciding.

Nice isn't it ?  Kind f reminds me of some of Martin's sculpts that he also painted up.

The Arsinoitherium looks totally wrong, especially shoulders, neck and the head.
I better wait for Mojö's version.

We estimate that this figure will work well with the existing 1:20 scale figures in the Collecta series, the Megacerops and the Woolly Mammoth for example.  We have had the chance to look at some Uranothere material ascribed to the Arsinotherium genus from Egypt but apart from this we have not actually seen a lot of fossil material, one of our colleagues is currently working on the fact sheet that will accompany this model.  They might need some help, so suggestions welcome.

We shouldn't deal with the figures' scales to casually.

CollectA's Megacerops is about 16.5 cm long and has a shoulder height of about 8.3 cm.
The shoulder height of Megacerops was about 2.5 m and it was about 5 m in length maximum.
This makes the figure's scale about 1:30.

The 1:20 scale is very rarely used by the Dinosaur toy manufacturers  ....... and I hope nobody's giving too much credit to the manufacturers given data ;D.

It's nice to see CollectA's continual improvement towards more natural-looking figures. The Gastonia- especially this alternate picture- seems like a real animal with nice skin texture and a bulky body. I never had good (meaning lifelike) ankylosaurs as a child, so I'm drawn to the ones I find now. The Gastonia and Xenoceratops may be the best in their respective CollectA lineages. Also the feathered baby tyrannosaur, if it turns out well, is a good sign for what the brand could do with other small predators. The Arsinoitherium seems a little funny, but is in a good pose for ramming into things. I don't have any CollectA, but the desirable figures (for me) have finally added up to a small list.

Megalania

i like the new models except the young tiranosaurus
but the Gastonia its my favorite

The Arsinoitherium is okay, but there is something off about it.
Tyrannosaurus chick is really cool, but the tail seems too short, and something looks off about it too.
The Gastonia is okay, better than the other two. I'll be getting him next year.

Roselaar

Oh neat-o, Collecta 2014 just keeps getting better and better!

I'm not overly fond of the Arsinoitherium, there's just something odd and wrong about it. The other two figures are gorgeous. The feathered Rexling is a really inspired figure.

It's the mouth.

But I agree, the baby Rex tail needs to be longer.

The biggest problem with visualizing an arsinoithere is that it isn't going to look like animals we know--it's going to be more elephant or manatee like, but we can't help but expect rhino-like, the only analogue we have left.

sauroid

the Tyrannosaurus chick i think would look more T.rexlike if they enlarge the head and thicken the thighs just lil bit more.

Im just a little disappointed that they chose to do a T-Rex Chick instead of some other small dinosaur like say, a Compsungnathus or Coelophysis. They clearly can do Thin legged animals so why not them?

By the way, I heard that these are the Last of the new dinosaurs for CollectAs 2014 lineup

If this goes over well they just might.

If they are the last I'd say they've done well giving everyone something they'll like next year.

Im so glad they are going to  TRY (you never know, they could be delayed into 2015) release these models next year, and I feel sorry for getting mad at them in November when I thought they were going to pull the same thing they did this year.

Overall Im thrilled by everything in there lineup. Now begins the wait for them to arrive in stores

Though im still a little disappointed in there choice of small dinosaur. Im also sad that there's no Sauropod model this year. oh well  :)

ZoPteryx

Really like the hatchling rex (could easily by any species of tyrannosaurid) and Gastonia! :o  Not crazy about the Arsinotherium, I think it's the big nostrils, but I'll wait for more photos before I make up my mind.

Overall, I give this year's CollectA's two thumbs up! ;D
