The Arsinoitherium is okay, but there is something off about it.

It's the mouth.

But I agree, the baby Rex tail needs to be longer.

The biggest problem with visualizing an arsinoithere is that it isn't going to look like animals we know--it's going to be more elephant or manatee like, but we can't help but expect rhino-like, the only analogue we have left.

Not sure what Arsino is supposed to look like, but the collecta version just doesnt look like a real animal... The body looks as though it was based on a plush toy. The paleocraft version looks much more "alive"

My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

Comparing the two figures I think that the problems with the CollectA version are that, the legs are too columnar, and the mouth is too far from the horns with oversized nostrils. It seems there struggling on there mammals becuase each one of there mammals has had some fault to them.

Smilodon, Wooly Mammoth, and Neanderthals are cartoonish

Paraceratheriums legs are too thin

Megacerops has a big head

Deinotherioums neck is too low from shoulder

Im so glad they are going to  TRY (you never know, they could be delayed into 2015) release these models next year, and I feel sorry for getting mad at them in November when I thought they were going to pull the same thing they did this year.

Overall Im thrilled by everything in there lineup. Now begins the wait for them to arrive in stores

Though im still a little disappointed in there choice of small dinosaur. Im also sad that there's no Sauropod model this year. oh well  :)

Maybe they still have a new 1:15 display piece left  ? Would love if that was a sauropod.

Splonkadumpocus

Ah! I was beginning to give up hope on seeing Collecta's usual Cenozoic creature this year.

They don't. We have now seen everything for 2014.

I'm guessing it's supposed to be a in stalking pose, but I don't like how far it's leaning to the left, it seems unstable :-\

Jetoar

Collecta never ceases to amaze  ^-^.
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

I feel pretty confident that this one will have the same leaning problem as this years Pachycephalosaurus.  :-\

That's a shame. I liked the idea of a juvenile T.rex, it's unique and would make a good diorama subject.

I really like the rex chick.  Really small and wobbly, as a chick should be.  I do agree, the tail seems a bit short, but everything else is okay with me.

Collecta's really giving me good reasons to risk another interaction with local customs officials.. ha!  It'd be worth it.

Are CollectA contraband in your country? :o

ITdactyl

 ;D HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....

your reply got me.  Sorry to derail the topic.  But just to answer the question, there are no stores that officially carry CollectA here.  And importing non-essentials carry unbelievable amounts of tax (and other, erm, fees).  Easiest [option] for us is evilbay sellers who can ship the item via mail parcel instead of couriers like DHL.

Oh, I see. I was thinking that it was something to do with the law, such as the toys not having been safety tested in the Phillippines or something similar. I remember such a thing happening with AAA toys, they could not be sold in the US :) Sounds pretty silly in hindsight, I guess.

This also happens, but usually with chinasaurs (are we really allowed to use this term?).

I don't see why not..it's the best species label for some of these creatures. ;)

hahahaha... this is noted.  On a semi related note, I've seen Papo and Schleich copies, but I haven't seen any CollectA copy.

... and back to the topic... I love collectA's 2014 lineup.  Easy on the eyes, hard on the wallet.

I totally agree. It's the best lineup by far, not just because of the number of figures, but I it has great variety and creativity.

Blade-of-the-Moon

lol exactly.

There are some CollectA copies out there..mostly their early stuff. Not very impressive.

Well this is clearly a copy of the Collecta Standard sized Spinosaurus, or they secretly released a new color scheme:

Well, those are some nice figures to end what it already looking to be a banner year for CollectA ;)
I really like the T-rex chick, finally a baby that looks more like what a chick may look like, not cartoonish  ;D It's really a big gamble with this particular figure, but something that I find very refreshing and welcoming for baby dino figures.... which I don't have a lot since I never like any of the baby figures to date. This particular figure changes that ;)
Oh, and glad that there is one mammal in the mix,too ;)
