CollectA Xenoceratops

Quetzalcoatlus with baby sauropod

these two are the standouts for me.  I don't think I can pass on these.

The Mark Witton-inspired scene is a must-have.

Carcharodontosaurus and Therizinosaurus are also pretty decent, but I can take or leave them.  I'd be more interested in the other theropods if they were free standing.  I have an aversion to anything on a base.

Just remove it from the base..it won't stand well but you can do it.

Are they molded on, or is it a separate part?

I got the Araki Favorite collection, and the theropods in that all have removable bases.  Some of them stand perfectly fine without, others not so well.  It was a good solution.  Anything that's actually molded directly onto a base I simply don't bother with unless it's really incredible and I can't talk myself out of it.

I'm at the point where I look for excuses not to get things, and apply certain arbitrary criteria.  Otherwise I'd end up getting far too much stuff.

They're molded (attached) to the base.

Actually there industrially glued to the base.  I received a Tyrannosaurus with prey from CollectA themselves with the base attached. but the item came with a broken tail. So they were going to send me a new one.

As I waited for the new one, I messed with the broken one, and I managed to remove it from the base, however, it broke a couple of toes in the process. Ill post a pic of the base when I find it

The juvenile T.rex most definitely does not look glued to the base. Wouldn't it make more sense for the models to be cast with the bases? It would be less labour for the factory workers. The rex with prey may have been a one off, since it was one of CollectA's first based models.

If they are attached by glue, that is a good thing, because I won't have to attempt any dino surgery.

The bases don't bother me..but if they are glued a good solvent might remove it.

I'm trying to recall where I've seen a depiction of a tyrannosaurus chick with similar proportions.  then I remembered the 3d model used in national geographic's "Make Me a Dino" ...

...and this art (who's the artist?  I'd like to know.)

My collection's mostly pterosaurs, but I really want that rex.

Looks like Michael Skrepnick.  Fantastic artist. ;)

Totally agree.  Why do none of these artists publish big art books to collect ?

Anyone have an idea what scale the Rex chick there would be ? I thinking about building a Rex nest and have animated chicks in it at some point. Just trying to figure out the size in 1:1 as I would probably sculpt them myself.

Concavenator

May we create a general topic for 2014 Figures as all of those has already been announced?  ::)

Blade-of-the-Moon

does anyone else think that is needed ?

Personally. I don't think we need one.  Maybe for other company's like favorite, or other Japanese. But for all of the company's that have there own threads. I don't see the need, as they all have there own threads.

Really thick tail indeed.  Looks like it will help counterbalance him .

The skull looks pretty narrow though..I would have thought a bit thicker.  Looks like the Dinosaur Planet Allosaurus :

Okay, now that model looks good, except for one thing: it's bending down too low, IMO.

Dan

Their "Prehistoric" section also features this new coconut palm:

Certainly impressive looking, and should be good for Eocene dioramas, at least.

And it's modeled after Allosaurus..not the Saurophaganyx.  lol

Actually the pose is made to fit the dead Stegosaurus I think.
