Since I just encountered some dinosaur sketches and concepts on my computer, I thought I'd share them right away! I might just use this thread to show you some new stuff whenever the dinosaur-bug bites me again. ;)

I hope you like them! Most of them will never be finished (I just know myself all too much, haha), but some might get another attempt at getting done, we'll see.

I love the Allosaur the most of course.. lol....and the Carnotaurus too..they feel like character concepts.  :)

fabricious

Thanks! Yeah, they were kind of started with a bit of concept art in mind.

Very welcome.

Actually I really like the Allo's expression there..how much would you want for it ?

fabricious

Thanks for your interest, but none of these are for sale, since I might (however unlikely) still be working on them. ;)

Blade-of-the-Moon

no problem, just thought I'd ask.  It's a really neat piece and sketches often show an artist's process so much better..very inspiring !

fabricious

Alright, so I just had a spare minute (or two) and doodled some random tyrannosaurid. Any suggestions as to what kind of genus/species I should turn him into (if I were to work on him some more)? I'm open for suggestions. ;)

Greetings,
Fabrizio

PS.: I only just saw how short his legs are, haha. Might have to fix that in any case.

ZoPteryx

Very nice sketch!  Perhaps it could the new Nanuqsaurus.  :)

fabricious

Good idea! I just might have to shorten the face a bit for that! :)

fabricious

I took Zopteryx' advice and turned this fellow into Nanuqsaurus hoglundi. :) I kind of like the short snout of this theropod.

To feed my procrastination and do something useful, I'll be working a bit on this guy today (it's 10PM here, so 'today' is not that much longer, haha).

Greetings,
Fabrizio

A little advice, at a lot more feathers, like feathered from head-to-toe more ;). Otherwise very cool.

fabricious

Feathers are to come! So far this is just the base sketch. ;) It will be a challenge none the less, since I haven't painted that many protofeathers before, haha.

Yutyrannus

Awesome! Good luck on the feathers, just reference pictures of chick down feathers and you're on the right track :).

Thanks! I'll definitely keep a close look at emus and ostriches, I think. Kiwis might be another good one...

fabricious

Since I'm busy drawing right now, maybe someone could throw some references at me about what kind of prey Nanuq might have been stalking? I am getting kind of attached to this guy already!

fabricious

Very nice, thanks. :D I'd probably go with one of the ceratopsians (I seem to be addicted to those...).

I'll focus on the head for now, but I could use some opinions for the pose as well. Which of these do you guys think looks more natural/would you rather like to see in a finished reconstruction?

Yutyrannus

Probably, the second one, but with the hips and tail lower to the ground

Having grown up with the 'classical', scaly look of theropods, this actually kind of hurts my nostalgic side, haha. I should better get used to this quickly. :)
