I just want to say I love Ninjor. He is hilarious. That is all :D

I can verify that Ninjor is indeed hilarious  ;D

We have an official movie logo! It's certainly very ... modern. Metal and lensflares are what dreams are made of, haven't you heard?

I hope the film isn't dark/gritty like a lot of remakes try to be. No way that would work for a concept like Power Rangers. It should be able to laugh at itself a little.

Agreed completely! Tone is what will make or break this film, I think. I'm hoping they aim somewhere near the Marvel films in that regard, maybe a little less serious than that.

I watched the Original Mighty Morphen Power Rangers movie as a kid, and i loved it, even though i was not a fan of the show.

I hope this movie will not just be a high budget fan service film and actually give us non fans something that we can follow.

Some one did a Dark and Gritty Live action clip of Power rangers, but it was ceased by original owners of the property.

That's interesting! I'd always assumed that the movie only appealed to the existing fans, but evidently I was wrong.

Ah, yes, I saw that. It was evidently meant to be an unpleasant but amusing indictment of the trend toward making "dark, gritty" versions of old children's properties. Sadly, some people took it seriously, and a truly depressing number of people actually claimed to like it at face value. Fortunately, I doubt the movie will turn out quite that badly even in a worst-case scenario.

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Very, very different, but I actually like it. She definitely looks like a Sentai/PR villain, if not like Rita specifically. I'm hoping this means there will be a more interesting connection between Rita and the Green Dragon Power Coin than simply "she had it laying around somewhere". Plus, the original Rita never really looked like a space alien - because the Sentai character wasn't one - but this design suits that element of the story better.

I'm afraid I don't like it. She looks like Poison Ivy. There's not even a slight reference to the original design there. Maybe she looks like a villain from one of the later seasons, like Divatox, but she does not have that Rita vibe.

Also, what's with the rope?

Patrx

Looks like the green outfit is not the only outfit! It will be interesting to see how this getup looks in the final movie; lighting and post are very important in that regard. Also, look, she has her staff/wand! And still the inexplicable rope. I dunno what that's all about.

That rope chest piece and no bra = wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen >:D

^THIS!

Looks like she is wearing rags. Her skirt looks like a bin bag.

Some more Rita:

Maybe it's tied to her being trapped in a dumpster for ten thousand years. She made that skirt out of bin liner bags that she found in the dumpsters. She must be stinky.

Hah! It does have a certain ... recycled quality, indeed :D I continue to hope that it looks better with real lighting and skilled post work.

I might guess that the brown outfit is her initial look, but that she acquires the green costume to fight the Rangers, possibly through the use of the Dragon Coin. It sort of has that "villain unwisely used incompatible power source" aesthetic.

Ultimately, what I like about this whole thing is that the original Rita's appearance wasn't designed for Rita Repulsa the evil space witch, but for Bandora the crazy earth witch. This is the first time we'll get to see Rita designed from the ground up, so to speak, and she definitely looks like an evil space witch to me.

I'm not really interested in this show, however I saw this once and I really like the design of the Dino Bite Cafe:

Probably something you could find in a museum or dinosaur park.

As for Rita, I think this might be the intention.  She is dressed in garbage. And they are clearly going for an alien look. Of course, the Witch Bandora should not look too human either, given that she is presumbly the same species as the Zyurangers, which are evolved from Dinosaurs. But then again, they probably did not want to go for a team of these:

( Oddly enough, I recently had a dream about the Zyurangers  where they looked like that, but they kept their normal clothes. )
Instead they look like normal humans:

Probably not what it looks like:

I started watching Zyuranger, but I'm afraid I didn't like it much - aside from the beautiful mecha, of course! I guess I just never clicked with the characters, and there are an awful lot of annoying child actors in that show. I had forgotten that the warriors shared genetic kinship with their respective "dinosaurs".

The DinoBite Café is neat! But the snake-necked sauropod things kinda creep me out...

Maybe I'm off-base, but that claylike segment on the new Rita's staff looks like a placeholder for some kind of visual effect to me. As far as I know, no promo images as yet actually feature the staff. Maybe it'll be held together with an arc of electricity or something?

Never liked Zyuranger. Too wacky for me.

There's a lot of tonal variation in Super Sentai (and PR, come to that). My favorites, of the ones I've seen, are Jetman (relatively serious, but charming), and Gokaiger (unapologetically over-the-top and full of interesting, likeable characters).

Patrx

We have suits!

Overall, I'm totally cool with these. They're colorful, techy, and still distinctly Power Rangers. The helmets are a little too generic for my liking, but I can see echoes of the animal motifs. The Power Coins/Morphers are especially cool, they almost look like crystals.
