Personally I find this continued piling on of Killekor disturbing and mean spirited and ironic considering this is the Forum etiquette thread. You got your way and had him banned and now he seems to be in a self imposed ban probably in fear of breaking another rule. He is 12 for crying out loud and none of us know his mental or emotional capability. I really feel for him since I saw how excited he was to find this forum where I imagine he thought he would find like minded friends. It is equally surprising to me since many members here have opened up about their bouts with depression or struggles dealing with mental issues. Here in Canada we have had high profile cases where teens have been cyber bullied into suicide. While this hasn't reached that level I can only imagine how hurt and confused he may be since as I mentioned I think he may have thought he had found a home here. His multiple and I guess according to this group trivial posts never bothered me. It is easy enough to pass over them just like I pass over posts from people who I find are mean spirited or are self proclaimed experts. I can't remember one of Killekor's posts being anything but friendly and enthusiastic. I can't recall a negative post by him aimed at anyone here at all. An attitude that you would think would  be welcome in "a friendly and open community".

I was hoping he would come back and stop the only thing he didn't wrong according to the rules, that being spamming to promote his threads, other than that he never offended anyone or broke other rules I think.

Once more I miss a "Thank you" button in this forum, nothin' more to say :)

Well said, Doug. I think the community can cope with some well-intentioned "spam" or overenthusiastic commentary in the interest of being nice.

some people myself included are still hoping that he'd come back.

Criticism of Killekor's behavior on this site isn't as harsh as it is of some other people, because as we all know, he is just a kid. There has been some fairly bitter feuding between members on here, usually over some trivial disagreement or someone being overly touchy. With Killekor no one ever targeted him on a personal level, only the things he did (repeatedly) that broke forum rules, for which after multiple warnings he received a temporary ban. At this point his exile is self-imposed and he is free to come back and participate in the community whenever he wishes. And as we've seen in this thread, there are a great many people who would love to hear from him again.

So if you were a kid who first had to read multiple posts asking that you be banned, then suffer a ban only to return and read an entry like this how would you feel
and I quote  "Let's just say not everyone is pining in the post-Killekor era."

I'm with you on that, Doug. Statements like that are just plain unkind.

Have to say though, while I understand and acknowledge that Killekor is 12 years old, that's still plenty old enough for someone to understand and follow clearly stated rules and expectations. I say this as someone who works with children for a living. Killekor was warned repeatedly and politely by a great many people to refrain from making certain kinds of posts, and for whatever reason(s), he failed to comply. That merits a consequence to me. There's no point in having rules here if they're not going to be enforced.

Totally agree with Doug Watson, what he said is basically what I had in mind.

Simon

Completely agree with what Doug Watson said.  The kid had a lot of enthusiasm, which is good, but not the restraint, which comes with maturity.  I think that Admin handled it as well as it could be handled.  At some point a "time out" is warranted when instructions are not followed.

Hopefully he will come back when he feels a little more confident in being able to follow the rules. (And BTW, outside of spamming pictures across topics, I found his repaints rather charming.  Mine were not much different when I was his age and building up those old snap-tite Aurora dinosaur kits.)

BlueKrono

It does sound a little mean-spirited when presented out of context. I chose that phrasing in response to Simon's light-hearted teasing. My intention was to show that there are in fact two very distinct camps on this matter. It was seeming like everyone who was commenting was critical of Dr. Admin's punishment and I wanted to express that some of us thought it was justified based on the content of Killekor's posts. They crossed the line, over and over again, despite many reminders. We have many valued younger members here on the DTF that offer thought-provoking contributions and opinions to threads, and we have plenty of members young and old who are exuberant about certain species or figures. No one has a problem with this behavior; the way Killekor blatantly and repeatedly broke the rules is what some of us had a problem with.

Libraraptor

I feel a little bad since I had sent Killekor a PM which tried to "translate" some of the stuff that had been written to him or about him. I tried to act as kind of a "mentor" which one could sometimes understand as "wisenheimer". I personally hope he was not miffed about that and really hope he will come back.

No, actually I'M part German and born on April 19th. I'm talking about my personal experiences there. And why couldn't have you PMed me about it? It would've resolved the situation much more quickly and made it less derailing. And how in what way is it stupid and immature? Making a joke about your personal experiences isn't stupid in any way.

And there. I've changed it so it isn't perceived as directed towards anyone but myself.

Now can we please get back on topic?

Since you have asked, I do answer.

As an American, saying that "it sucks to be German" is an incitement of the people, which is stupid.
Writing something like this in an open and anonymous forum where nobody really knows you, your history or your sense of humor is immature and can lead to unpleasant reactions.

Let's not be too hasty or harsh on CrypticPrism. He is 12 years old and I'm sure it wasn't his intention to upset those he shares heritage with. It sounds like he had other reasons. However, I do think it would be appropriate for CrypticPrism to remove it from his signature, irrespective if the intention behind it, because it is open to interpretation and potentially upsetting.

CrypticPrism

I've reset my signature to avoid stuff like this happening in the future. Sorry if I caused any inconvenience.

Forum rule number 7 is: Topics concerning politics and religion are discouraged.  Maybe it's just me, but I thought that would also mean political topics are discouraged from being in a signature or in an image.  I'm not blaming anyone here, I'm just saying what I had been thinking.  Personally, I feel uncomfortable with extreme political topics appearing on this forum in a casual manner.  Hitler is one example of this, and I appreciate CrypticPrism removing that from his signature.  Another example is posting an image of Donald Trump in a thread about dinosaur classification, it's Reply #47 here: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=5543.msg166270#msg166270

I feel making these extreme politicians appear on this forum like this isn't necessary or appropriate.  Personally, I'm not happy to see that image of Donald Trump remaining on this forum, due to the acceptance it seems to imply.  If that's how the admin/moderators feel it should be though, I accept that.

I'm not blaming.  Since CrypticPrism is 12 he might not realise why making these extreme politicians appear on this forum like that might cause upset.

Oh, sorry. I'm really sorry if I've ever been rude or racist, unkind or annoying on this forum. Thanks for letting me know not to post stuff like that. I will edit out anything that is against the policy.

No problem - thanks for your understanding!

CrypticPrism

You're welcome.

I really do hope Killekor comes back, I think we could've been great friends.
