I contacted Target Canada through their web site and asked about future availability and this is the answer I got. Maybe if more of the Canadian forum members contacted them they might consider carrying them, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

"Dear Doug,

We appreciate the time you've taken to let us know what you're looking for at Target. I'm sorry, but I looked up all of the UPCs that you provided and unfortunately those items aren't carried in Canada currently.

Hearing your feedback is very important because it helps us learn more about the merchandise you want and need from Target. Although I can't promise we'll carry this item, I'll let our Buying team know you'd like to see it at your local store.

Thanks for letting us know how we can make your Target experience even better."

Sincerely,
Russel

I asked someone at mine and he said they would probably get them in a few months after the US stores, but that was just going by what happens with other products

Daspletodave

Maybe Target Canada will get them just in time for the Christmas buying frenzy. If they don't appear by then I guess the Battat Terra series is a US-only item.

Daspletodave

Well my Battat Terra figures arrived in the mail today! Thank you Dan's Dinosaurs!
Firstly, all four figures are amazing  - thank you Dan LoRusso!
Right away I notice that there is not a single word in French on any of the boxes. While on a personal level this makes me very happy- it does make the figures ILLEGAL for sale in Canada. So unless the factory in China is also printing bilingual boxes we will not see any Battat Terra products in Canada.
The Battat Co. address and website are printed on the boxes. I checked out the website and there is no mention of the Battat Terra line, nor is there any "contact us" link there.
For what it's worth I think I'll write Maison Joseph Battat and ask them if they have any plans to distribute this line in Canada. Maybe I'll get a response back.......in French!

stargatedalek

I really hate that law, and yet Quebec products don't need to be bilingual, they can be French only if they want to...

back on topic, it probably depends on how well they sell in the states as to whether the resources will be invested in packaging variants and additional shipping to Canada

Daspletodave

I am actually surprised to see how elaborate the cardboard boxes the figures come in are. There are two layers of cardboard, with ten round holes punched in the sides and top. Then there is a display background and ground base. Two of the figures are mounted on a plastic "shell" to hold them in place. The packaging alone must cost a dollar, so if Target is selling them for $8 US the profit margin on these toys must be pretty slim. Of course in Canada they would probably be priced at $25 CDN, since we always pay more for the same products.
Somehow I can't see Battat producing the exact same packaging for the Canadian market, except for making it bilingual. Maybe (and I've seen this on other products) they'll glue a bilingual sticker on the back of the box over the "offending" English. Problem solved!
On a side note, I have heard (from Target shoppers) that whatever doesn't sell in Target USA gets shipped to Target Canada. So if these Terra figures sell like hotcakes in the USA that is no guarantee we'll see them in Canada.

Dean from DeJankins emailed me today and said he picked up a half dozen sets of the first four. So, just email him. His email is listed on his site.

I like Nanshiungosaurus the best. IMO, it has the most character of the set, and a very bird like gaze  :)

DinoLord

Has anyone spotted the Gastonia and Gigantoraptor yet?

JakobVicent

This is good news, I wonder how the line is selling at other Target stores. Because if they are selling well, we will be able to enjoy all the figures that Dan will produce in the future! 😊
Keep The Magic Alive and Kicking! :-)

The Gastonia & Gigantoraptor will not be released to stores until early 2015.

DinoLord

Great to see you back Dan. I look forward to the two new ones. Hopefully it is not too long before we see more figures from this line as they seem to be selling very well.

JakobVicent

Yes it's good to have you back dan :) any updates on the rest on the figures?! :)

Sim

It's great to see you back Dan!  Thanks for the update!  I was waiting for those 2 to become available and then ordering them with the previous 4, or getting the previous 4 if I found them in a brick and mortar shop, whichever happened first.  I'll wait a bit longer for now then.

Thank you for this information Dan, now I can stop checking the toy department of my local Target every week! Good to see you back.

Meso-Cenozoic

Thanks Dan! I was hoping they'd be in for Xmas shopping, but just to know they'll be in for sure at any point is still great news! Totally looking forward to them and others in the future!!

Dan, welcome back!  I look forward to more figures from you ;D

Daspletodave

It's nice to see that the Battat Terra dinos are selling out. This is good news for Battat, Target, and Dan LoRusso!
It looks like 2015 will be a GREAT year, starting with the Gigantoraptor and Gastonia!
