I'd get the Apatosaurus.Think the Spinosaurus is outdated now.And the  Apatosaurus is a breathtaking sculpt.

Poor Spinosaurus!  Oh well! It's still an awesome sculpture and a piece of art in its own right.
Check out my new Spinosaurus figure: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=5099.0

I figure the broken/separated/segmented sail made it highly speculative already even before the recent updates to spinosaurus.
Its still an amazing sculpt (as is the mosasaur), even being inaccurate.

Paleogene Pals

I will still like my new Spino, when it arrives, even though it is outdated.

DinoLord

It's still a stunning piece of artwork; just pretend it's an Oxalaia!

Just noticed that the Apatosaurus repaint has been pushed back to late April-May now. Hope no others get delayed as well. More time to save, I guess....really like the Styrac and the Trike too. So far only have the new Rex on pre-order but I think I can talk my Wife into letting me get another...maybe 2 since my birthday is in April. ^-^

Yeah, the release of the Spinosaurus was pushed back to this month, was supposed to be in October. However, it is not uncommon for the release of new kits or sculptures to be delayed for various reasons. But, the wait for the Apatosaurus is worth it because it will be epic!

Dobber

Yeah, I really like the paint scheme of the re-release Apatosaurus. I very much want it, the Styracosaurus, and the Triceratops.

The Apatosaurus sculpt is pretty awesome. I still prefer the first paint version of that one. I prefer the new Spinosaurus color scheme to the old one; it's unfortunate that the reissue was announced so shortly before the major Nat Geo press release.

Besides the limb proportion and the shape of the sail, the Sideshow Spinosaurus looks pretty spot on with the latest research data imho  ^-^

Can't say I'm too surprised.  SS products seem to always get delayed a bit.

DinoLord

I wonder if we'll have to wait for the upcoming reissues and new sculpts to be distributed before seeing new sculpts.

Blade-of-the-Moon

They might show something new by Summer..really hard to say with Sideshow..and I'm beyond guessing..already tried that! lol

I've seen the repaint versions of Spinosaurus, Styracosaurus and Carnotaurus in person (not my personal collection though, since I already have the originals) as a friend of mine received his statues recently, and although they don't look bad, they look nowhere near as good as the ones in the stock photos. Especially the Spinosaurus.

P.S. - I am sorry about not providing any pics as I didn't have a camera with me. But since people are receiving them, I think pics will pop up here and there pretty soon.  ;D

Paleogene Pals

People are receiving their statues now? Hopefully that means I will get mine soon. Not happy to hear about paint job...a new paint might be in order.

That's disappointing to hear, but I was afraid that would be case.  Sideshow had mixed results with the patterns we were getting..making them more complex seemed an odd decision..even though the prototypes were wonderful thanks to Riojas.  I almost think they should wait and use factory completed pieces for images not as good certainly but closer to the actual product.

Dobber

Yeah, this what I was worried about. I really hope the Rex will be nice...it's my first. I know it won't be as nice as the prototype >:( but I hope it will be close.

Meh, I don't care too much. I'd rather have a statue with not so perfect paintjob than no statue at all. Sideshow will still get my money.

Paleogene Pals

I think I lucked out. My Spino came in, and I am fairly happy with everything. It is an awesome piece and big! I shudder to think how much bigger the Apato is going to be. I owe my mailman big this year!

If possible post some pics..I have only seen one pic of the Styracosaurus re-paint so far.
