My Latest Review: Rebor King T-Rex

thelordsgym

Yeah I obtained one in the mail today, and can agree with some on here who say it's well worth the price! Extremely detailed...big and heavy...slightly bigger (about 20%) than Papo's running T-rex...but way heavier. As previously noted....it's a statue...not a toy....just because it happens to be made out of vinyl doesn't make it a toy. It's also slightly firmer than say Papo, Schleich, or Collecta. It's present location is on my mantle in high prestige next to my sideshow Mosasaurus.....I am not concerned about scale. 8)

I never saw anything before that mentioned it was vinyl..so like the X-Plus pieces from a while back?

JurassicCollectibles said it was made of PVC, but I have no clue, lol.

Well I believe someone said it was "too expensive" and were judging it as a toy, like Papo....but yes kinda like the X-plus figures in material except its not hollow like those. So what I am saying it deserves to be treated as a Model/Statue not a toy, and thus its price is indeed justified. Oh and on another note, someone else mentioned earlier that the lower jaw was extremely tough to open, and they weren't kidding. I almost needed the jaws of life to pull it open....almost!  :P

I think I was the one who asked that, was it someone called Johnny Dinan?

Tyrant Lizard Queen

What @thelordsgym said.

Yes, ofc it's a statue (there's a reason why it's called museum quality replica), and by all means it definetely deserves every penny of it's costs. The detail is fantastic, period. I like it even more than my sideshow trex which kinda looks a bit ugly now.. I will be more than glad to put it in front of my prehistoric animal collection. The sculpt, attention to details and coloration are simply stunning.

Now if Rebor made Deinosuchus or Masosaurus... I would instantly pre-order it!

Well spoken Tyrant Lizard Queen! And yes I can't wait to see what else they come up with....maybe an accurate Spino, Dimetrodon, Carnotaurus....and the two you mentioned are honorable considerations as well  8)

Next in line will be a 1:35 Utahraptor ;), if I remember correctly.

Paleogene Pals

Did I just read Tyrant Lizard Queen make a disparaging remark about the Sideshow T-rex?  :(  Quietly holding my tongue...  :)

That's... discouraging, to say the least.

Yeah I don't like it as much as Rebor. So what? A man can't have his opinion? If I had a chance I would change that SC trex to any other SC dino.

Not too far, my cousin goes to school in TX, he drove in for the holidays..stopped once along the way.  If you do, plan a trip of everything between here and there..so many museums and dino related places to visit!

Heh I can see this one already..Papo Raptor/JP Raptor..maybe with feathers on the arms and back of head only? Sorry not poking fun..but it would make sense based on past releases. If it's fully feathered and based on the new findings I'll eat my words. Heck I'll buy one.

If you don't want him I'll take him. The art and story shown on that piece is just beautiful. Reminds me of my grandfather who was a veteran.

Well there is an empty spot on my shelf that would love to have him...  ;) (not really, but a lack of space never stopped me from getting something!)

I'm the one who mentioned it, lol. The Jaws of Life to open a jaw, how ironic. But yeah, it was like trying to pry open a clam with just your fingers...

Sweet. I'd love a huge dinosaur vacation. I went to the Boston Museum of Science whilst on vacation with my husband and there we met "Cliff" the Triceratops (the guy in my avatar). So that was really cool.

Also still no sign of my T-Rex. My mom got him for me as the only thing I wanted from her, and while I know my husband has probably gone crazy with buying me dinosaur stuff, I can't lie and say I'm not very upset that my Rex might not make it before the holidays. I really hope something hasn't happened to it. I also don't want to 'have' to buy another one should this one actually be lost. She already spent nearly $80 buying it from ED (if I did my math right) and Dan's Dinos is selling it for the same price. If I have to I will use my Xmas money there...but, shoot that's a lot of money between the both of us.  :(  I REALLY like this guy so I will admit he is worth it.

I probably won't be on until the 26th most likely...so Happy Holidays Everyone! ^_^ I hope you have a "Roaring" good time and that Santa and his team of raptors/wooly rhinos bring you lots of good stuff.  ;D
