Just want to get a practice in photography, and there's plenty of scenic panoramas around here.

Get outta my way!

What's this, sniff, sniff.

Pffff, these things are no match for me.

Triceratops vs Theropod. (That's as close as I could get the chicken to the toy, she was very suspicious. Magpies wouldn't approach it either, even when I put bread in its' mouth.)

And here's something that is a bit repetitive, but this model is so photogenic. So I made it into a story - Tori's day at the beach.
Where're we going, Mum?

We're going to the beach.

Always check for tyrannosaurs...

...and crocodiles. (No, really. I was worried one might show up and eat my Torosaurus)

Nearly there.

Mum, there's two just like us in the water!

Here we are.

Ah, so peaceful!

Time to go home, kiddo.

I hope these don't suck, I'm a new hand at photography. But there are plenty of beaches, rainforests, pine forests and national parks that are quite fitting for dino scenery, and I'm quite enjoying this.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Great job. What is that model in the last... 9 pictures? It looks amazing!

triceratops83

It's the Shane Foulkes 1:15 scale Torosaurus, from Dan's Dinosaurs. Albeit suffering from my poor build up skills.

Poor build up skills? I think it looks awesome. For a moment I thought it is a movie prop, but sculpting and paintjob didn't fit. Loving the figure as well as your dioramas. Keep them coming!

triceratops83

Thanks kreativtek, that's a real compliment - although I do tend to shoot things from angles that work to my advantage. If you're interested in that Torosaurus, I'd get it soon, not sure how much longer it will be around before it's retired (info anyone?) I'll go for a drive next weekend with a car full of toys and post some more images. If anyone's got tips on focus and whatnot, I'd be grateful. :)

Those are some quality photos! I bet your photo will look good in the diorama contest next year if you enter. Also, the Torosaurus looks great; I can't see how it was poorly built, so either it's better than you think or you conceal it quite well.

triceratops83

Thanks Manatee, it's the seams/joins that show pretty badly. I've improved somewhat - I've just been using Tamiya putty and I've figured out the trick is to put on what seems like too much, dabbed on in spots and blotches. It sinks in after a while, so even though it looks OK at first, when you paint it starts to show. I've just bought some Greenstuff, and I think I'll use that in the future.

The sniffing Trike is cute :) And yes, the 1/15 Foulkes Toro is awesome, it's only natural that one would want to show it off >:D

triceratops83

Thanks Tyrantqueen! And I can see me getting more Shane Foulkes sculpts to photograph, they look so good!

Now that it's stopped raining, I can take some more pics. Although of course everywhere I wanted to go is flooded...
Maastrichtian Marginocephalians

At the lake

Finally figured out how to resize photos, so took this one at the camera's maximum, then shrunk it in windows paint. Hopefully will look better.

Nice the plesiosaurus diorama looks good   :)

Jetoar

[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

Thanks! I try to photograph them from low angles, and even though I always miss some, I try to clear away leaves and grass when I'm trying for a realistic look.

There was a couple of Favorite Dinos I wanted, but it was cheaper to get a boxed set of 6 figures. I gave most of them away to my niece, but decided to at least take a photo of each before I did. I haven't heard of anyone else having trouble with these, but I could barely get them to stand even on the bases. The floodwater in that photo was at my doorway - it's monsoon season here.

Boo! A photographer's nightmare.

Hey! I'm workin' on my tan, here!
(I messed this one up, it was supposed to be swimming in the creek, but with the camera at the water's surface I couldn't focus on anything but the background. I couldn't shoot it from above either because it was just the Tamiya Kit's spare head glued on to a BBQ skewer and looked pretty obvious.)

Scavengers circling

Sunset on the cliff

"Yeah, you better run! Us Hadrosaurs are no pushovers!"

Defiance at the Volcano
(Shutter wouldn't work and I only had about ten seconds of explosion, so I was lucky to even get this shot.)
