So, my parents just bought me a schleich velociraptor. For me it seems awesome but not all. The velociraptor is missing it's large foot claw. To be honest, i never thought a velociraptor could smile @_@ which, schleich did make the velociraptor like figure smile. It supports some feathers as well, which is only on the hand. So what do you guys think? Should schleich make better MUSEUM quality like figures? This velociraptor is a bit out of museum quality.

I like to think that Schleich targets two main things: making money and targeting younger kids with their models. As such, they often send scientific accuracy down the well and focus on bright colors, playability, and presentation that would appeal to mostly to kids. They have some good models out there, though. At the end of the day, I think they are going to continue to do what they have been doing, which does not necessarily fall into most iterations of "museum quality" productions.

If you want better raptor, there are other choices... Carnegie made a feathered raptor and I know Papo has one coming soon. I'm sure others can make additional recommendations.

My beef with Schleich comes from two things, 1: THEY ARE EVERYWHERE, and 2: they claim to be scientifically accurate, but many of their models (modern and extinct) are clearly not researched and just slapped together to be as chunky as possible with bright colours.

Haha, yes, schleich does target two things in mind, specially colors, their company was made for kids entertainment but it also should be accurate designs like those of carnegies, i doubt they only need the money.

I prefer the wild safari 1996 brachiosaurus than those two schleichs, the velociraptor doesn't have a big foot claw. Yes they do tend to have tiger stripes with leopard spots and apple green with stripes. They're both not too accurate like carnegie or safari but schleich will change from time to time WE HOPE ;)

a lot of these companies like Schleich and Papo must be thrilled that Jurassic World decided to stick with the old outdated 90s design versions for the dinosaurs. Now they dont have to worry about updating their models. Sigh...

I personally like the World of History Line. But my beef with them is this.   They think kids would be interested in the same blasted species in different colors. That Velociraptor you have was not needed because they already had a Velociraptor for the World Of History Collection, and it was not retired, or repainted to look like this new one. If they think Kids like Dinosaurs that look the same then WHY DON'T THEY CALL IT SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!!!!!!!!!! >:(  That Velociraptor could easily have been called a Utahraptor due to its size, and Kids might not care because they thought a dinosaur that looks similar to the one they already made would still sell in the first place. Same thing applys to there New 2015 Giganotosaurus. Instead of Calling it another Giganotosaurus,

they could of called it a relative like Mapusaurus. To me Kids wont think any diffrently because it looks freaking simalar to the One that was released back in 2012 only with some diffrences.

Another thing that irks me about them is there New Playsets which include Dinosaurs i been wanting other companys to make for years.

But also dinosaurs that you already bought Years Before.   I Want those Compys, but why do i have to buy another 2012 Raptor to go with them, when i boght it back when it first came out? Before you ask. NO, Schleich has no plans on releasing the Compys separately or without the Raptor according to Everything Dinosaur.

I love There Dinosaurs Inaccuracies in all. But these things really irk me about the companey

i can stand most inaccurate Velociraptor figures in the market but not that green Schleich "Velociraptor".

Oh, another Schleich thread...
I do not like Schleich as a company, they do destroy the versatility in stores with a ruthless cut-throat competition. They´re all abundant! In Germany it´s nearly impossible to find a toy store with other figures being sold. Sometimes you are lucky finding a Bullyland and/or Papo diaspora.
I like their Desmatosuchus, the Pentaceratops, the old Plateosaurus and even the Baryonyx.
Schleich does not and will never care for scientific accuracy or even the museum line quality you talk about. They claim for amassing more money and most parents and grandparents don´t care if they give their children scientifically correct dinosaur figures... And how silly is the new version of their crippled Giganotosaurus?Their foremost dinosaur  sculptors are all drunk, high or blind.

Yes, even the nearby countries of germany got infected with schleichs. It's hard finding a safari, papo and collecta and etc figures here in Switzerland. I kinda like the 2015 giganotosaurus despite it's inaccuracy :P. But this velociraptor makes me barf.

My General opinion on the Company. I dont care if they make Inaccurate models, but im tired of them making new sculpts of species they already made for there collection

Schleich doesnt care about our opinions actually. as long as they make lots and lots of money...

It looks like it does have a sickle claw, the toe is just not in retracted position. They weren't held way up off the ground at all times, and in fact there are footprints that show them walking on all three toes in certain circumstances with the sickle claw pressed into the mud (probably to get a better grip on slippery ground).

Hi there...great picture and a nice addition to your collection. I like the Schleich offerings because they are easy to get and fun and suitable toys...they might not be perfect in every way but as I enjoy collecting model dinosaurs and animals with my kids they suit my purpose down to the ground, its our hobby together and for this reason I also support the concept of play sets etc...after all it helps to open the door for kids further interest...if you had seen the rubber rubbish I started with in the 70's as a child you would not believe the advance in quality.

regards...Derek

terrorchicken

what bugs me about those new multi-dino sets is that theyve got dinosaurs from different eras that would have never interacted with each other!

mest

It seems to mee that Schleich likes those velociraptors alot and keeps making a new ones from time to time. Here are 3 velociraptors from the Schleich family. They are not covered with feathers but got some on the back of front limbs. Brown and green figurines got movable jaw.  Brown is the best looking one and it's made from rubbery material.
