I just bought a near mint 20 dinosaur boxed set including poster for £5! It was mis-described on ebay and I stumbled onto it by accident. I'm made up!!! Does anybody know how many white bases there should be in the set, please and if there was any paperwork or a protective inner insert. I just have the box, poster and figures. I dread to think how much this would be at the 'proper' price! I'll now be selling off my complete set of played with unpainted versions if anybody is after anything in particular. The only painted one I am selling is the stegosaurus, as I have two.

:o congrats!

Bowhead Whale

Those are wonderful. I, personnally, own the painted Mammoth, the painted Liopleurodon, the unpainted Glyptodon, the unpainted Scelidosaurus and the unpainted Blue Whale. It's not much, but it's better than no Invicta at all.

I've had this big fella for years, but I never knew there was any "significance" to it as a toy until I found the Blog. That was kind of cool to realize.
I'm definitely starting to feel interesting in collecting more Invictas; having some genuine vintage figures to compliment my modern replicas would be rather nice, I think. There seem to be decent selections on eBay, so I guess I need to keep my eyes out.

I am always happy to see new friend of Invicta emerge!  Still my favorite,  and my First serious,  line.

Invicta made a series of unique sauropods, among them the green brachiosaurus shown. The brachiosaurus as well as other animal figures such as apatosaurus, mamenchisaurus and diplodocus were one of the first large figures of dinosaurs made by a toy dinosaur company.

What was said Invicta was my favorite company and I totally agree with you Libraraptor was the first dinosaur company that I collected serious and for me it was a favorite company.  :)

Well, officially count me among the converted, now; with this new lot alongside Brachio, I am definitely feeling the appeal. I think there's a lot going for these figures, in my opinion. I dig the monochrome style, which leaves the very good sculpted details un-obscured. Seriously, I'm impressed by how lifelike some of these are; there's a sense of physicality to them that even a lot of modern figures don't seem to accomplish. On top of all that, I think the Invicta line just excels at capturing the iconic nature of these genera as they were known & portrayed up to that point in science & media - the Triceratops looks like it could have walked right off Ray Harryhausen's set for One Million Years BC. Invictas aren't flashy at all, but I think that reservation is part of their charm. Yeah, I'm totally a fan.  8)

In the context of their time and place I think they're unsurpassed. Other collections have questionable models among them. That's not the case with Invicta. As such it's the only line where I would consider myself a completest, though I'm far from completion. Welcome!

Libraraptor

Fembrogorgon, thanks for putting into words what I have always been loving About the great Invicta line!

Invicta stopped producing models years ago, their last dinosaur models were released in the late 1980's I believe.

1993 for the Dimetrodon & Lambeosaurus.
It's just I saw something that said it was Invicta and it was artwork with these three dinosaurs next to a Stegosaurus and something else. I was wondering if anyone else knew any more about this, or if it's even true. Not in a new sense, more of something planned that never went through?

Here's my Invicta Collection, with a few close ups. I will have to start a collection page too at some point.

Despite having spent more than twenty-six years since they left production, the prehistoric animals of Invicta remain for me colossal figures in terms of beauty and brilliance. It reminds me of my young age What beautiful and beautiful memories I had back then!

Getting to the point, are figures from my honest point of view that have not lost their charm and that for me will never be outdated. Fine figures of the dinosaurs and prehistoric animals of the British Museum of Natural History in London, one of the best in the world, by the way.

terrorchicken

these were my first ever dinosaur models, I asked my mom to buy 3 of them for me(the triceratops, iguanodon and stegosaurus) from a science/educational products catalog, back in the late 80's. Still have them and ended up adding to them when I discovered Ebay in the 2000s, a couple sauropods and t-rex and most recently the megalosaurus. I think they have an elegant simplicity to them and its interesting to see well designed models of what was considered accurate representations of these creatures at the time.

I have sent one of my models (a Stenonychosaurus) to be painted by Martin Garratt. I am looking forward to what it will look like when it has 'come alive' under the hands of an artist like Mr Garratt.

What are the rare models from this line, it seems the Troodon and the Lambeosaurus are the obvious sought after ones, but what others are there?  Colour variations perhaps?

Libraraptor

Colour variations are quite various in this line and each seems to be somewhat rare, as I have seen over the last few years,  yes.  And their regular Dimetrodon has become rare, too, I guess.

From the 'Monochrome' line - the Lambeosaurus is by far the rarest and the most expensive.
As for the 'Cloured' figures : I think the Muttaburrasaurus is the rarest and most expensive.
There are of course the 'Monochrome' color variants - which are the rarest
