How has everyone been? I was in a bit of an art slump for a month or so, but I'm finally feeling a bit more enthusiastic about art  ^-^

First, here's a nonsensical piece I (finally) finished up a few days ago. I don't really have any context for this, it's just a mix of some things I was thinking about at the time. I guess it's fun to let some pieces be open ended and let the viewer make up their own idea for what's going on:

Also, I finished this piece up today- a Sinosauropteryx pair resting in an abandoned barn. I LOVED working on this one, it feels very "me"! Probably my favorite thing I've drawn in a while -

Take care, guys!

Thanks very much! Placing these lovely animals in modern settings helps them feel more real to me, so I'm happy you enjoy~

Paleona

Hey everyone, just popping in to share a couple more pieces!

I drew this one in September, inspired by vintage postcards and roadside farms -

And this one I finished up yesterday- a Cryolophosaurus pair scowling at some snow flurries. Inspired by David Armsby's fantastic Dinosauria series!

I hope you all have a safe and happy end of the year!

SidB

Love both of these whimsical drawings, avatar_Paleona @Paleona   - very seasonal I must say, and totally appropriate!

Shonisaurus

That ankylosaurus looks like a fairy tale figure surrounded by pumpkins, it is a marvel. On the other hand, you have masterfully portrayed those two cryolophosaurus with four drawing strokes. My congratulations, they are fun and adorable illustrations.

S @SidB Thank you! It's fun to work with color palettes and themes fitting for the season, it helps me connect more with the time of year sometimes, haha

avatar_Shonisaurus @Shonisaurus Thanks for the kind words! I would love to see a fairytale style book about dinosaurs (especially ones that highlight ankylosaurs, like Pinacosaurus here!). I really enjoyed drawing both of these ^-^

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing ok ^-^ I was cleaning up some old dino toys from my childhood this morning (Dino Brites!) and thought of the forum. So I'm stopping by again to share some stuff. I'll be posting them as Instagram links this time (if you're viewing them on a pc, I apologize for the grainy quality!) Anyway, here's the paleo related art I've finished this year so far-

A little Hallucigenia sketch:

I finally played some of the game Saurian and got surprisingly into it. Here's a short comic I made based on my experience:

Until next time, take care!!

A small pic in anticipation of this series <3

Dusty Wren

The PP T. rex is adorable in your style :))

Also, I can't believe I missed your Saurian comic, it's really lovely. Saurian is one of those games where the core gameplay loop isn't that exciting, but it's fun to just be in the game's world. It leaves you room to make up your own satisfying stories, and I think you captured that well.

avatar_Dusty Wren @Dusty Wren Thanks so much!!
Yep, that's exactly how I feel about Saurian. It's not really... "game"y and I wouldn't even call it fun. If you play with a good pair of headphones on it's easy to get sucked into the world and let your mind wander, though. I still have to try out Dakotaraptor, but maybe I'll wait for when nesting is introduced later this year : )

Dusty Wren

Oh, hey, speaking of games--I picked up a copy of The Sunlit Earth at Otakon last year, and I just realized one of your pieces is in it! That's so rad. It's a great illustration, and the whole collection is fantastic.

That's so awesome to hear, I'm glad you enjoy it! It really is a beautiful collection of artwork, I was really honored to be a part of it :') The cover artist in particular blew me away, but everyone did a stellar job. Love Shadow of the Colossus so much <3

Paleona

Hi everyone, here's some recent stuff!

springtime Parasaurolophus

young Saltasaurus gets a treat

extra fluffy Therizinosaurus

chonky friends - Scutosaurus, Simosuchus, Eryops

Also, (if I'm allowed to promote a little) if you're interested in paleoart books, please check out this collaborative book I'm a part of! It features a fictional "paleozoo" and will be available to preorder later this year. https://twitter.com/ProjectPaleozoo <3

SidB

Very endearing. These really are an unique perspective on a world that is otherwise 'red in tooth and claw'. Thank you for sharing these with us, avatar_Paleona @Paleona .

Concavenator

Somehow you manage to make all of them so cute!

Newt

These new pieces are charming as always. I love the Tiktaalik (?) shaped bread in the Saltasaurus scene!

Project Paleozoo looks like fun, I'm sure I will end up getting a copy or two for the younguns in my life. They're not paleo nerds (yet) but they love Pokemon and Animal Crossing, so this seems like a perfect segue.

Paleona

Thank you, S @SidB avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator avatar_Newt @Newt ! And yeah, it's Tiktaalik bread, I'm happy you noticed it! Probably my fave detail from that one, haha.

Also, thanks for the interest in Project Paleozoo- it will definitely be accessible for kids! Very little ones should at least enjoy the artwork. Very excited for everyone to see what we've been working on :')
