Let's hope so, it would be an awesome desktop model.

Dang, the Japanese Master does it again - THIS is a believable Spinosarus - you will note that the legs, despite their shortness, look completely adequate for walking on land - there is a sleekness to the design, and the action swimming pose is to die for.  The only minor issues for me are the lack of the lower teeth protruding out the sides of the rosette in the snout as we know they must have in life - they could not fit inside the upper jaw.  The fingers are elongated which seems logical given the animal's fishing lifestyle (and the fact that we do not have a set of Spinosaur finger fossils yet).

My oh my, that is beautiful. Best Spinosaurus I've ever seen!  I may have to try and repaint the CollectA swimming Spino like that.

It's a bit skinny/slender (as most of Araki's work tends to be) but it's nice :)

Saurox

A wonderful piece and exquisite paint job.

Dinomike

Wow! That is beautiful!  A bit on the skinny side though :)

I think it looks fine and feasible from the skeleton images I've seen.

This is beyond a doubt the best malnourished Spinosaurus model yet. Honestly no degree of speculation makes this degree of shrink wrapping plausible but it's still a beautiful piece purely artistically speaking.

Do want! ;D I love the colours and movement, and yes, it could probably do with a nice coelacanth fillet or two but it looks reasonably natural all the same, and it certainly the worst offender as far as Araki shrinkwrapping is concerned *coughcoughfavouritestyracosauruscoughcough*.

Haha i've got to agree with you there :)) that thing is really dang skinny. As for this Spinosaurus, i'd definitely buy it if it ever became part of the desktop model line, even if it is a bit thin, and you're right, it isn't the worst shrink wrapping i've seen. It is the best Spinosaurus i've seen however, including the CollectA versions.

Thanks,

it would be great if Favorite Co. would make this Spino into a vynil figure.

A really beautiful piece.  Doesn't really look shrink wrapped to me - just a little svelte. Do enlighten the uninitiated: if this was a proper non shrink wrapped specimen, would the facial (lacrimal?) crests be obscured by tissue?

Thanks for sharing the link too!  Going through the site, it's nice to confirm that the Favorite sternbergi was originally designed as a longiceps.

I don't want the CollectA Spinosaurus. I want this one!
My dream is that it's going to be the museum model for the upcoming Tokyo exhibition.
http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=4039.0  That would be awesome :)!

I agree. Still doesn't make me regret getting the two standard CollectA ones for Christmas, though. ;)

The crest would likely have been an anchor point for soft tissue or even a casque, so although it's rather small that's not the issue with it.

The skull is better than a lot of the Favorite Kinto lines sculpts, but it is missing some of the lower teeth where they should overlap the upper and the recesses are still more visible than they should be.

The neck isn't deep enough, it may look fine when you compare it to a diving bird but they have much narrower skulls relative to their neck. The thicker portion of the neck should connect to the back of the lower jaw, it doesn't connect fluidly and this Spinosaurus would have incredible difficulty swallowing because of that.

The limbs and torso actually seem to be relatively fleshed out. The muscles bulge a bit too much on the chest and there may be a bit too much of an indent under the hips, bit the tail, rib cage, and limbs seem to be nicely fleshed.

The sail is the worst offender by far. Ironically one of the best examples of a good Spinosaurus sail comes from the Favorite series one Spinosaurus. To quote myself from another thread: "The spines/columns closer to the head narrow at the top, suggesting something similar to a chameleon that would narrow as it reached the top (forming a triangle when viewed face on). Whereas the columns over the hips don't narrow nearly as much, suggesting the structure over the hips was thicker which could have aided in balance."

At the absolute least the spiderweb is very inaccurate as this would have constricted the animals movement.

This is still a very nice sculpt and I would probably buy it at a reasonable price (I wouldn't be caught paying limited edition prices some of the other Favorites reach though) even with its inaccuracies.
