What is that white salamander on the shelf with the Cambrian critters?
We are accustomed to look upon the shackled form of a conquered monster, but there - there you could look at a thing monstrous and free." - King Kong, 2005

avatar_BlueKrono @BlueKrono A Greererpeton I sculpted late last year. Reminds me that I still have to get around to doing the other things I planned on sculpting at some point.

Really coming along  8)  And you're putting that new bookcase to good use! I notice there's still quite a bit of room on the Paleozoic shelf--saving space for some of the Life miniatures? I'm curious, it looks like you don't display your Favorite critters on their stands. Don't care for them, or just find they're easier to fit without?

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres They are on them but hard to make out with how crammed they are. Being in the dark doesn't help either.

And not only those (assuming all 100 fit), but some others I am behind on such as:
-Colorata Paleozoic set
-CollectA Estemmenosuchus
-CollectA Edaphosaurus
-CollectA inverts
-Favorite Dunkleosteus (still want a new one that's up to date but the closest we have for now)
-Kaiyodo Eurypterus, Eusthenopteron, Hemicyclaspis, Pleurocystites, Pteraspis, Xenacanthus, etc.
-PNSO Helicoprion
-Schleich Dinogorgon

I still need a Dimetrodon as well but has been hard for me to decide. I like the coloration of the older Papo the most despite lots of anatomical issues but I'm not sure how that scales with the CollectA Edaphosaurus. I'd something close to scale with it.

Honestly I think that 3 foot long wall shelf would be better suited to all the Paleozoic stuff. Would open up more space for the shelf there and maybe I could rearrange by period (Cretaceous would be crammed).

I still have plenty of Jurassic and Triassic animals on my wishlist as well (I don't have a single modern Stegosaurus for example). But Triassic still sadly doesn't have much going for it.

Probably the most readily available I don't have yet, that interest me:
-CollectA Lisowicia
-Kaiyodo Rutiodon
-Safari Ltd Coelophysis
-Safari Ltd Prestosuchus
-Safari Ltd Shringasaurus
-That unbranded Placerias

Really would like to see an updated Desmatosuchus, Plateosaurus, Tanystropheus, as well as a proper Herrerasaurus, and Eoraptor. Anything else would be swell.

Hey Faelrin, did you end up deciding what colours to paint your Greerepeton?

Also, I love the hang sell displays on your wall. I'd love to able to do that, but can't help opening up packages.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

I kind of do (I think green with black spots/stripes, and yellow belly), but I think the reason I haven't gotten around to painting it quite yet is because of not getting around to getting a sealant or clear/gloss to cover it with, assuming something of the sort is needed. Unless you have something better in mind for it perhaps?

That is typically me but I am running out of space, and since the PNSO mini figures display nicely in packaging as is, I figured I may as well try something different with them.

That colour scheme's gonna look cool.

When I paint a dinosaur, I always use a matte finish from Tamiya in a spray can to take AWAY the gloss, and it works fine. So maybe you could try something like this -

https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/spray-ts-plastics/ts-13-gloss-clear/

Another idea is (just a guess, I've never used it) that stuff you use in dioramas to make water, I think you melt it. If you could get it thin enough to coat the model, it'd make it look really slimy.
In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Yeah quite a bit looking at it now, and that's not counting some remaining Cenozoic, and Mesozoic figures I'd like. At least I have quite the patience. But well as I learned with the Southlands Replicas Thylacoleo, can't sit on some things forever either.

I don't know how long its been since I last energy to get out of bed and do some cleaning. In any case I want to make more room for future Mattel stuff. Though I think once I can get around to getting that wall shelf up I'll move the Amber Collection and other misc JW stuff up there which will free up that shelf for whatever (maybe move the Paleozoic stuff down there). Anyways in the meantime my Cenozoic stuff has been rehomed to the top shelf, and majority of my (non Mattel and BotM) dinosaurs are on the second shelf. Absolutely crammed, the poor things. Only exception is the Rebor Carnotaurus + base (and Ceratosaurus' base) will need put back up on the BotM shelf. Amazed how nearly everything else fit.

Gonna work on the Mattel stuff now and get pics after.

Edit: Okay some Mattel stuff reorganized and a bit of space made as a result.

Duck

Everything fits together very nicely, and I adore the way you have displayed the figures with just enough space between them but still close together enough to give the sense of a "herd" if you will.
Good work avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin

Crackington

Yes, well done avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin , your collection is looking really good!

I particularly like how you have displayed your Cambrian critters with the clever use of plastic "shelving" to maximize the space.

You can often use this stuff from packaging and get it for free, like the "plinths" often given away with pizza which are great for little figures.

Good use of the walls too, to put up figures in their packaging.

Shonisaurus

I congratulate you on your collection, it is extremely wide and you are sorting it by geological epoch. You should be proud of your collection with such a wide range of brands and species of prehistoric animals.

Gwangi

I'm very selective about the Mattel toys I buy so my collection is quite a bit smaller than yours. It's nice seeing such a large collection of them displayed together like this, it makes me wish I bought more of them!

Jose S.M.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin hey! Lovely collection as always. One question: what's the little stegosaurid next to the Safari Ankylosaurus?

ZoPteryx

Great collection avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin!  It's really cool seeing all the Mattel figures together like in that last photo.

looks like the PNSO Huayangasaurus to me.

Your collection is great avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin this is one  of those threads I love to visit as well.
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

Faelrin

Thanks for the support and interest everyone. I really appreciate it.

avatar_Gwangi @Gwangi Thanks. I wish I had that kind of self control haha. I like too much and was able to hunt down one of every species so far. Not sure if you've seen my older pics cause the new ones above are only like 2/3s or so of it.

That said I do agree with you. It is fantastic being able to see the diversity in animals they've done so far (though of course mostly animals). I do have a few not opened or on display just yet, such as the Apatosaurus I was lucky to find and buy half off and Carcharodontosaurus I got earlier in the year. I've been wanting to take images of them before opening them but haven't had the energy to do so because of my depression. Same reason I haven't reviewed the Legacy T. rex Escape set as planned.

Really hoping I can still find and get my hands on the Ouranosaurus (my pal in Germany said he will keep an eye out thankfully). And I'm hoping the Kentrosaurus and Pentaceratops will still be available next month.

avatar_Crackington @Crackington Thanks for the suggestion about the pizza things. Would have never thought about those. Also I got the tray idea from avatar_Loon @Loon thread. They had such a great display made with so many of them back when they were still active here.

avatar_Jose S.M. @Jose S.M. avatar_Gothmog the Baryonyx @Gothmog the Baryonyx Indeed it is the PNSO Huayangosaurus. Charming little figure. I hope to add their other stegosaurs to my collection someday.

Impressive as always! I wonder if the maker of that bookcase offers a spare shelf? You have a lot of unused vertical space and one more tier would let you spread things out a bit.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Honestly that sounds like a great idea. Thanks for suggesting it. I think I'll dig for the instruction booklet that had all the info in it and see how I can go about it. I did see on the website there was a way to get replacement parts, but this is more of an addition per se. I guess reaching out to them too wouldn't hurt.
