Did a little touch up on the PNSO figures.
Being really cautious here, so the changes might not be apparent on the photos.

Did a black wash on Lucio. Always felt that his cream coloring was too clean and distracting.
Applied a wash on his nails as well.

Same black wash on the light colors on Lucas.
Just to bring out the scale details more.

Wilson got gloss in his mouth and eyes.
The 1st release had a flat finish through out.

I went the most aggressive with Doyle.
Gloss inside his mouth and eyes.
And multiple layers of wash.

I definitely agree a wash was needed on Lucio. Everything looks good. Even better you didn't ruin anything which is what I myself would be would about doing. Some of the changes were subtle but enough to make a difference. I'm definitely gonna do more practicing before I attempt anything like this. 😁

Quick question from a newbie:  has anyone ever tried inserting a longer pin into the leg of the model?  Shouldn't that fix the issue?

I know a lot of collectors have a preference for some soft material, but it apparently comes with stability issues if a single leg is weight bearing.  I am therefore looking forward to my W-Dragon figure whose weight bearing leg is supposedly made out of harder material.

PS: Warhammer player here.  Pinning is a typical technique in that hobby.

Good point, but for bipedal dinosaur toys you need a really long and hard "pin" to do that.
I mean a 2mm-diameter metal rod inserted right from the heel, goes through the knee where the bend always occurs, and ends in the thigh. Such surgery will require drilling or cutting the legs, and further requires repairing and repainting.
Knowing the difficulties, most of us just put a clear rod under their belly as a support. Won't hurt too much in an aesthetic point of view  :P

Agree.  That is probably what is takes.  I would hope you can insert the metal rod without impacting the outside of the model.  But that would require some careful drilling.

That will be the most robust method of securing the figures.
To enforce the legs all the way up pass the knees.

But based on what I see, most of the warping happens at the ankles.
So perhaps a larger pin up to the shin will be sufficient.

For now, I will stick with using dried twigs as a belly support.
It does not distract too much in terms of looks.

Even more photos. Setting these as cover photos for each of their folders.

avatar_KeU @KeU thanx for all the detailed pics. Just put in an order for Lucas and Lucio on AliExpress. I already have Doyle and Essien.

Nice touchups! Lucio especially looks better with no nails on the forefeet.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

I am the one having fun with the figures. But you are welcome.
No plans for Wilson?

Thank you.
I am feeling more confident.
Might try to do more subtle touches to make them look closer to the box photos.

Someday maybe. I do like some of the features on the new version like the eyes. Maybe I'll wait for the lipped version. I'd love to see Zhao Chuang do some feathered dinos. Maybe a partially feathered T-Rex. I'd be fine with a Yutyrannus though.

Nice additions and work on those PNSO. I'm still not brave enough to attempt any touch ups on these figures ;D

KeU is just starting to unlock his true potential to repaint his dinos. It begins with a touch up... ;)

Nice, I'll be waiting for pictures then haha

How is your Lucas holding up? I may be seeing things but mine seems like he is slowly leaning to the left. The foot where the peg is that is.

I'm not too worried considering that I'll be buying somewhere close to 4 more Gigas from PNSO since I absolutely love the sculpt.

Still no issues on mine so far.
But I do have a little stick holding him up.

As far as the repaints go, went for more richer colors on Doyle.
Lucio had a bit of touch up.
And Lucas got another wash to bring out the details.

Thinking of painting Wilson's eyes.

Updated Lucio.
This took a few days, mainly waiting for the paint to dry before applying another layer.

Add a touch of purple on the neck sail, followed by a black wash to blend the purple a little.
Added a dark green wash on the edges of the olive green patches.

And properly painted over the nails on the fore limbs.
Added a coat of flat finish as well. Since the paint PNSO used on the neck sail were glossy.

Syndicate Bias

Ah it looks much better now. I was actually debating on whether i should gloss up mine on the sails since i am nearly done with it. Sadly I realised that my biggest weakness is the material and size used for Lucio not being very good at painting easily. The sails in particular are very hard with how ridgity they are.

Awesome work the darker green gives the model more depth
