Every Pteranodon (and "Tapejara"/Tupandactylus) from the JP/// toy line lacks teeth.

Hey - is't the T.rex visible in one of the trailers? There's that log-shaped tunnel and a goat. You can see her head for a millisecond! :) Those new trailers look promising! Can't wait - my friend promised to take me see it for a late bday present. Yay!

That raptor 4-pack stinks, not because of pronated wrists(It's JP, it's going to happen) or no features, but because they're not raptors.  They're generic therapods trying to be the Raptor Squad and failing due to lack of a sickle claw. *sigh* Hasbro?  You suck.  You straight up suck.  You might as well have given T-rex 3 fingers or taken away Spinosaurus's spine or give teeth to a Pteranodon, oh wait, they did that last one.
They also did a 3 fingered Tyrannosaurus(!): http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=3014.msg85146#msg85146  Just when one thinks they can't make something even worse... They manage to make something even worse.

The "new" dinosaur is well, not a dinosaur, just a cartoony monster that looks out of place among the others ....

Strange, given that everyone was complaining that it looked like a generic theropod. Personally, I like how versatile its arms are.

I was talking about the toy.  Disappointing.  Human-like arms.  "Sigh*

What would you prefer?

Better designed, more anatomically correct toys.  Like Kenner and Hasbro did in 1993 and 1997.  As an example - the Chaos line had some well-designed "monsters".

Agreed. Chaos Effect's mutasaurs (there were only five proper mutant toys, plus a ton of snazzy recolours) were hilariously awesome. I deeply regret not snapping up any when I had the chance.

The Ultimasaurus would have made mincemeat out of the I-rex. Too bad it was never released. :(

I'm kinda surprised they didn't use the Ultimasaurus design..maybe it was too bold in it's genetic mix.

Main takeaways from this?  This isn't so much a "raptor whisperer" thing, but very much a trust based relationship like a trainer would have with any large carnivore.

Also, raptors like bacon. ^_^
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

That was a pretty rough way to land...ouch.

I like how it looks like Owen's control is just barely there..very hair trigger.  One small wrong move and he's being attacked.

I must admit, I kind of like the idea of this human-raptor-relationship. I'm really curious to see this in the movie.

Is that a preliminary cgi pic? Looks like there will be an epic battle in the movie! YES! TWO WEEKS!  Wo-hoo!

So, I was browsing Target the other day and found my way to the Jurassic World toys. I must say, seeing them in person really is even more painful than looking at the photographs. The new raptor hand puppet is particularly offensive, a lifeless blob of styrofoam in place of the brilliant Lost World version that entertained me so thoroughly when I was younger. I continued to shop, feeling a little bit dejected. Then I saw these:

How cool is that? I think it's a great idea on the part of Barbasol to elevate what amounts to a 22-year old cameo into a genuine marketing opportunity.

The CGI creatures on the packaging continue to be inexplicably wonky-looking. Something's off about these raptors, especially.

You still have a chance (See "Trade Toys" in the 1st post: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=1569.0 ).

I'm not so sure about that ( http://babbletrish.deviantart.com/art/It-s-the-Ultimasaur-160739186 ).

Also, some pre-release talk from the Paris premiere has been fairly positive.  Doesn't sound like anyone's willing to say it's as good or better than the first, but many say better than the other sequels.  But, film is subjective.  Critics loved Avatar, I found the story to be predictable.  People hate the Transformers movies, I find them a fun diversion(remember, the original cartoon didn't take itself seriously either).

Here's another video that just came out I hadn't seen before.

Quote from Producer, Frank Marshall: "He (Jack Horner) brings the credibility we need to the story and really makes sure that its scientifically correct." -- What happened, Jack? ;) Hehe!

And here's the first review I've seen. And it's not bad. Not bad at all!

Ughhhhh...honestly, I wish they'd ask a different paleontologist to consult for them.  Ever since he admitted he was pushing the "T. rex as a scavenger" argument just to make his students think more, I've wondered about this guy's mental state...

I think Horner would be willing to say pretty much anything Universal wanted him to say about Jurassic World. They are paying him, after all. I also think he's become too fond of fame. He knows he's a celebrity among paleontologists and he's clearly not about to lose that status. But given how poorly funded paleontology is, perhaps he shouldn't be faulted too much.

Unless, of course, he's been spending all his earnings on bling bling.
