Resin cast, by the folks at Masterpiece Models (https://masterpiecemodels.com/product-category/dinosaurs/). They traditionally do model aircraft/WWII stuff, but recently have been adding dinos to the mix

For colors, I can't decide! I like the idea of counter shading + stripes like this rendition:

But I'm torn between muted, earthy colors like in that image, or maybe something a little brighter. I usually stick to earth tones, so I might mix things up a bit!

Crappy phone pictures of my progress on the Para. I had some issues with this one that led me to stripping + redoing all the paint, so I've decided to drastically alter my plans for it and do something with a simpler design. Inspiration for colors was a common dolphin.

Simple but very effective.  It's striking and satisfying.  I like the way the thin line runs up from the foreleg to snout to tie in the blocks of black and lead the eye upwards.  Also like the way the black curves down round the eye.

Thank you! I appreciate it- I was very disappointed about having to strip the prior paint, so I wanted something that would be easy to replicate if I messed it up again 

But I'm happy with the choice. I'll be happier when its finished!

Wow, that's a great color scheme for that impressive model!  I too like the line running from the forelimbs to the jaw.

I think I'm finally done with the Para. I'm going to try getting nicer shots of him later, but for now I've lugged him outside for some natural lighting.

In the Presence of Dinosaurs is my favourite dinosaur book, I think. That's what it reminds me of The colours aren't an exact match, but it has a similarity (yellows, whites and browns).

More work on the Argentinasaurus. I'm still trying to decide on what else needs to be done with it. The head feels to plain, but I picked a pretty plain design so I don't know what I expected. We shall see, I guess.




Someday I dream of these two being in an awesome diorama together. Gotta get good at building bases first!

Its a resin kit by Sean Cooper. I got mine from Dan's:

Its the most expense model I own, and I'm probably going to scrap the pain and try again. But its an incredibly beautiful sculpt and my favorite sauropod model yet.
