Some various things I've been working on:

The black Friday sale for Safari was too good to resist, so I picked up a couple of the Anzu. I love the original one, but figured I'd have some fun and repaint the duplicate.

Also hammering away at Nick Fonseca's Deinonychus kit.

Its slow going, but I really love this model, so its a pleasure to work on.

Jose S.M.

They look amazing, I like what you  did to Anzu, even if I love the original,I admit your color scheme is more of my taste.

Any news on the Microraptor project?
I would love to see how it would turn out.

ceratopsian

The Anzu is beautiful. An appealing colour scheme. I like the detail of the blackish spots on the hind legs, which makes the change of colour seem natural and not abrupt.

I of course thank you all again for the nice comments  :)

This project got a bit derailed, but I snapped some shots for you of how it looks now (apologies for the crappy phone quality):

He was supposed to be a Halloween prop, but I realized I wasn't going to get him done in time and set the project aside for a while. I'll finish him eventually, though!

Your repainted Anzu is wonderful! If the actual paint was half as good I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Ever thought to do the same with the WS feathered Velociraptor?

Looks good so far! Can't wait to see the finished Microraptor!
Also I love the Naturalistic coloration you gave the Anzu.  :D

I got it during the sale too, but haven't decided on what to with it yet. I honestly like the model's original colors, but if it sits on my shelf long enough I'm sure I'll get the itch.

Lanthanotus

Did you slaughter a crow for that? :D

Sorry, couldn't resist.... I myself used dead/roadkilled animals several times for different art projects, that's not to assume those feathers are from such a source. It looks very nice and lively, even at this half finished level.

Also that Anzu repaint looks very good and believable.

Mackeral

What a stunning model that Nick Fonseca's Deinonychus kit. Like the colors!
Where did you get that if i may ask? I only see some kicktsarter project online.

Haha, just goose feathers, I'm afraid. Its illegal to take feathers (or anything) from most species of wild birds in the US, even if they are already dead. But imagine a fun taxidermy project, converting a crow into an actual little raptor. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about it!

Its a really lovely model, absolutely love it.  He has an Etsy shop, and I think has a couple still available:

Thank you paintingdinos for the links. It's one big model though! That 1:8 Giganotosaurus is a beast!

Finished the tiny DeeZee (Richard Deasey) Smilodon:

I'm trying to take better photos. At some point I'd like to open up a deviantart account (or something similar) so I can actually display them.

Halichoeres

Good looking paint job! I'm not sure why we don't see more Ice Age critters in snow-appropriate coats of fur. It seems to me that at least at some latitudes, some of them might have had winter phases like arctic hares and foxes, even if they weren't pale all year long. Anyway, I like your Smilodon's pajamas.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

Haha, thanks! You're right about the colors. Tan with stripes or spots seems to be the most popular flavor, but a little variety never hurts.

One more repaint for 2017:

A repainted Papo Acro for fellow forum member thelordsgym. Colors referenced from the tiny kaiyodo counterpart.

It works just as well on a large scale as on the Kaiyodo.

Your work is simply amazing!! The parasaurolophus you did is stunning, its a shame it doesn't come like that from the manufacturer or I would purchase it immediately! :D

Great restyle of the Papo Acrocanthosaurus, every repaint I've seen so far seems to work better than the original. Luckily Papo's own repaint too.
