Great restyle of the Papo Acrocanthosaurus, every repaint I've seen so far seems to work better than the original. Luckily Papo's own repaint too.

The original is a little boring, but I appreciate them for at least putting some color on it. All brown, all green, all grey- its drab to me. I'm happy they are making the newer models more colorful.

Here's a few other things I've been working on:

Another repaint for thelordsgym. I forgot to ask which line this toy is from; anyone who knows, feel free to comment.

The little Khurasan Miniatures Ankylosaurus. I'm still trying to learn how take better photos. It feels harder to do with these tiny models.

It's a bootleg Rebor T rex. Beautiful repaints by the way, that Microraptor you made looks pretty sweet as well.

Thanks! I can see the Rebor Rex in it now. The lowering of the one leg into a standing position and the skin detail being dramatically deeper made it hard to recognize. Then again, I don't own the original model to really compare   :o

I've been working on getting the last of my minis built today. It'll be a little while yet before everything will be primer-ready, so I'm working on a small side project in the mean time:

I really love the old Dinosaurs of China Safari raptor. This model in particular was pretty banged up and cheap on ebay, so I picked it up for a little makeover.

Joey

Can't wait to see finished model! Looks good already!  :D

Lanthanotus

That's a very nice Ankylosaurus figure and a fitting and superbly executed paint job.

On a roll with these minis! I love working on these tiny models. I can get one done in a few hours vs a few weeks (still working on the 1/5 Deinonychus... grumble grumble)

DeeZee Woolly Rhino:

Being menaced by the Smilodon:

Just for fun of course...  >:D I have no idea if they were roommates (admittedly I don't know much about the Cenozoic in general).

Not an update on the Rex, but I didn't want to have multiple topics active at the same time so enjoy a warm-up paint of the Safari "TOOB" Liopleurodon:

Excuse me, I am new on this forum and this is my first post!
I wanted to ask you if you could tell me what equipment you use for your repaints?
Thanks in advance

Lol, in all my excitement i forgot to tell you how much i looooove your minis!

Thanks! And welcome to the forum  :)

The basic things I used for all of my repaints:

-Can of paint primer. I have regular Krylon multi-surface primer and a few of the hobby ones. I mostly use the hobby primer for the minis, krylon for the larger toy repaints/kits. Probably doesn't really make a difference, just how I do it!
-Acrylic paints + inks of varying brands. I use liquitex ink when I airbrush, the soft body (heavily watered down) for regular painting. I also have testors and citadel paints (my SO is very big into Warhammer, so I usually just steal his paints for convenience 8) )
-Brushes. Nothing fancy, just regular round acrylic brushes you can get at any craft store. I have a ton of different sizes, depending on what I'm doing. For minis I usually stick somewhere in the 3/0 - 1 size (http://bit.ly/2mQsfDu). for minis I also keep a small sized, firm, flat brush for dry brushing.
-Varnish/sealer. I use liquitex satin varnish for most things, then dull it down with testors dullcote. Sometimes I just use the dullcote if the model isn't going to be handled much.
-Airbrush, though I don't really use this for minis unless its to apply a base layer quickly.

That's about it really. Lots of paper towels and some rubber gloves. And patience lol

And one more thing,

You said that you make repaints/customs for thelordsgym,
could you also make one for me?!
I would be really happy!

Thank you Beegfood, that's really flattering  :)

Right now I'm not taking on anymore outside projects. I've got one other commission I'll be working on for another forum member, then I'd like to focus on the large backlog of my own personal models. But hey, if you're interested in painting, I'm always happy to share tips!

---------------------------------------------
Speaking of working through the backlog, the T. Rex from Khurasan Miniatures is almost done:

Taking the photos I realized that the spikes are pretty sloppy. I'll need to fix that, and finish his base.
Colors inspired by that one Herrerasaurus skin from The Isle.

A little preview for something else I'm working on:

A Dromaeosaurus homunculus!

:))
Yes, its a little known fact that Dromaeosaurus were actually talented alchemists!

This little guy decided to seek out some companions (though it definitely looks like they're plotting something...)

(all I have is a phone camera, and it just doesn't do a good job of capturing these very tine models!!)

"I think I'll call him... Mini Me"
The big one looks so comically shocked!  The minis all look wonderful.

ITdactyl

Your "mini-me" photos remind me more of a scene from Primeval (and the JP novel)... dreading the outcome. :D

BTW, awesome paint job as always.  Who made those dromies?
