The Model Toy Centre has proven completely satisfactory for me.

Concavenator

Any news on potential new releases from them this year? I am certainly hoping to see more from them, since they released some models late last year.

It would be great if that Suchomimus was released...

Fembrogon

Okay, I imagine this has been addressed before, but just to be clear...

Are these legit repaints, or knockoffs? That Giggles is looking quite tempting at 24 bucks...

Gothmog the Baryonyx

Those are official Vitae just the cheap paint job. Great if yiu want to repeat them too.

Wasn't there some story about the molds being basically hijacked by one of the co-owners to produce the first simplified paint versions? I know the therizinosaur and ankylosaur have legit repaints but I thought these were more of a gray area.

The cheap versions of the Vitae models as seen in the image are the ones made by the company itself, so they're legit. That said, I can't be 100% sure the illegal copies aren't still circulating on Aliexpress... The cheap versions on Aliexpress that are actually made by Vitae only are the Jyniunpelta and the Tiantaiosaurus. Otherwise, you can contact Vitae directly, to avoid any risk.

Yes, avatar_REBOR_STUDIO @REBOR_STUDIO said that, and if I recall correctly they also said the "hijacked" figures had lead paint.

The lead paint can't be ruled out. no doubt, but this may have been a speculative assertion of Rebor's part, IMO. BTW, good to see you back posting, avatar_Sim @Sim , I've missed your unique contributions.

Since the "hijacked figures" thing shows up often and willingly, I thought it'd be a good idea to ask Cheung Chung Tat about them, and turns out the cheap versions were his idea from the very beginning  :o Basically, he decided to try a different way to commercialize the figures in China because Vitae had no access to the international market for reasons that were unknown at the time...

Concavenator

I would certainly like to see more figures from them, though it doesn't look like I will have that pleasure... :(

All quiet on the Vitae Front for 2022?

Leyster

For those interested in this kind of things, here we shared some never before seen images of the sculpting process and prototypes of a Vitae model (the Sinraptor).
"Dinosaurs lived sixty five million years ago. What is left of them is fossilized in the rocks, and it is in the rock that real scientists make real discoveries. Now what John Hammond and InGen did at Jurassic Park is create genetically engineered theme park monsters, nothing more and nothing less."

Thanks, L @Leyster , for this fascinating in depth review of the Vitae Sinraptor. When I'd bought my copy, I had no notion that a base had been planned for it, nor did I realize that there was a deluxe version. with a base either. Interesting.

Duna

I really can't understand if the 3D sculpt look at first as good as this:

How ended looking like this:

avatar_Duna @Duna ? to me, the prototype looks really good.

S @SidB when did you buy yours? Because the Deluxe version is relatively recent, if you bought it pre-2020 it's normal that you was aware of the regular version only, it was the only one available.

That texture, in my opinion, doesn't look like scales neither feathers neither fuz. Looks like roasted chicken.

SidB

That's right, L @Leyster , I purchased mine earlier on. There was no mention of a base or deluxe version with base at that time.

Leyster

avatar_Duna @Duna they're simply skin folds. If you're referring to the spikes on the side, those were removed to the final model (too brittle, I think).

Still no word from Vitae as to any 2022 offerings? Hope that they're still extant - I've got eight of their releases in display among my PNSO's and would sure like to add to them, especially if they continue to produce more obscure genera.

Concavenator

S @SidB no news as far as I'm aware. Their latest figures were released in December 2020, and nothing new since. I don't know if they're extinct at the moment, but I don't think so, since their figures can still be bought (from Dan's Dinosaurs, Lana Time Shop, AliExpress...).

I miss their figures too. They had a really nice Suchomimus that I hope will be released at some point. But since it's been this much time since their latest figures, I'm not holding my breath for any new releases from them, unfortunately. I hope to be proven wrong.
