^^^ That's exactly what I thought. It was a test for Billy, but I think he should have known it was a Spino too.

Gwangi

Touché! But Oxalia wouldn't have been an option in 2001. I suspect Grant knew too, it was obviously a test for Billy who should have aced it. Now with Timmy and the Gallimimus you could make the case that Grant only recognized it as an ornithomimosaur and knew that Tim would know what it is specifically since he likely had inside information from his grandfather. But that was probably just a test too.

Back on the Stegosaurus train, Ted Brothers posted his repaint of the Mattel figure. Honestly, with the repaint, the figure looks better than the Papo Stegosaurus.

Those figures are very nicely sculpted but there factory paintjobs obscure a lot of the details. I've seen Carnotaurus, Stiggy, Pachicephalosaurus and Tyrannosaurus repaints like this one and they look amazing. I

The part that bugs me most about that scene is that somehow the -mimus part is the one he can't remember! You know, the almost every single Ornithomimid name ends with. What was he waffling over saying? "Gallo... Gallo... Gallodactylus!"

Haha, another good point. If he already knows what a Gallimimus is, enough to remember the first half of the name, then it's unlikely that he would trip over the rest of it.

If anyone in the states wants the exclusive set, it's on a huge sale right now due to response to Prime Day.

Well, seeing how Gallimimus is a lot like an ostrich and given what an ostrich can do to people...angering a Gallimimus is probably a bad idea. This one is also teaming up with a Raptor and two Compies.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Dilopho

It blows my mind how big Gallimimus was, and even the attack pack one is huge compared to the human figures. That could definitely kill you with a kick. And they also have long, sharp-clawed arms to boot!

Gwangi

I reckon that Gallimimus would in reality be a more dangerious animal than Compsognathus or Velociraptor. Taking into account the real-world size of Velociraptor and the fact that Compsognathus probably weren't land-piranha interested in anything larger than a small lizard. I will admit that in this particular toy pack it's kind of an odd addition. Why not Dilophosaurus?

Primeval12

Random question (move to its own topic if necessary) which other dinos toys (Safari, Papo, Schleich, CollectA ect.) scale up with this toy line?

I don't think many do, to be honest. These figures are about the scale for 3 3/4" humans, and even the other lines tend to be 1:40 at biggest. There's not many out there that are this big of a scale.

Appalachiosaurus

This line is about 1:18 - 1:20 scale, so a lot of extinct mammal figures will fit fine, but larger Dinosaurs and the average 1:40 scale figures will not.

Primeval12

Oh, collectA's Nigersaurus will pair up. and the Estemminosuchus.

That line of questioning always bothered me in JP3. As if any student of dinosauria would ever confuse Spinosaurus with another spinosaurid.  ::)

Depends on how Oxalia looks.
You know, I always figured that Grant knew exactly what he saw but wanted to test Billy. Similar to the Gallimimus scene in the first JP where he did the same to Tim.

I just used that quote to present the figure, given the fact that I am the first forum member to get the Spinosaurus...but there you are, talking about that quote instead of the figure! Whatever guys...

So here is the Spinosaurus out of the box:

I am very pleased with the figure but I have a couple of issues, the most obvious one being the tail being too short and thin. But the main issue is it´s stability. If it wasn't for the locking point on the hips this figure would be laying on the ground because it is very front heavy and unfortunately, the right leg is somewhat loose. Also I wish the locking point on the hips was a little bit higher, because I think the default pose with the hips locked looks like the Spinosaurus is crouching a bit. Sadly, because of the loose leg I cannot pose it´s torso higher than it already is unless I turn it into a retrosaur. :P

Despite that I am very happy with this Spinosaurus and I think is a very nice addition to the Mattel JW toy line. But I wish it had stronger hips and a bigger tail. ::)

I will post pictures comparing it to the Thrash n´Throw Tyrannosaurus and the JP3 animatronic Spinosaurus soon.

Exactly!
Oh, man; has anybody actually named something Gallodactylus yet? That would be hilarious.

Mattel's at SDCC right now, and they've put up a few displays:

Lockwood Manor Display:

Definitely need a Protoceratops skeleton to go with Velociraptor STEM figure.

Mt. Sibo Display:

Nothing new, but definitely a great diorama....
...wait! Is that a new color scheme on the Mosasaurus?

And...what's that screaming I hear?

It's not Amanda Kirby (unfortunately), it's...

...a Franklin?

Here's a video of the dioramas:
https://youtu.be/0ERUXehX7FA

WHO'S THAT POKEMON?

It's.....a thin guy, a bear, and potentially, hopefully, a super articulated Velociraptor?

Mattel will be hosting a panel on Saturday, they promise some big reveals. Dennis Nedry figure???

MLMjp

Only the image of the Mt. Sibo display is visible.  :(

Having said that, OMG that display is amazing! I love it!

It is very clear that Mattel is doing their best to promote these toys, they even got a comic-con panel for their toys. I wish I could be there.
Big reveals and announcements? That makes me excited! Bring them on!
