Thought I would share this image. This is one of the favorite groups in my collection. If you begin at the twelve O'clock notch with the factory original version, the two next in line are both done by Martin Garratt. The piece at roughly 5 o'clock was based on a painting done by Tony Cstonyi. The piece opposite is a version painted by Copper for me. At ten o 'clock is a version rendered by Bob Morales for me. As I look at them I cannot choose a personnal favorite. The one thing I am sure of is that I prefer each of them over the stock factory paint scheme. They are each unique and gorgeous to me, but so far none of them has become my favorite, or rather they ALL are.....which do you like ?

I like all of them, there all nicely painted and look so much a like, but i prefer the ones with their tails off the ground.

This little guy is known as Yinlong, and I am posting him over here because he is quite important to the history of the Psittacosaurus as we understand them This is the first actual ancestral or basal ceratopsian figure I have found to the Psittacosaurus family. The oldest one as well.
The model itself is a Shapeways piece sculpted by Manuel Bejarano. Paint and basework done by Martin Garratt.  There are so few less derived ceratopsian pieces out there, so this one is quite special.

Martin Garratt's retake of the Collect-A psittacosaurus. I could not help noticing how birdlike the face and head look in this version now. I think its amazing how some paint and a nice base can bring out so much character from an otherwise somewhat mediocre figure.

Pictured are the new set of Psittacosaurs modeled by Aaron Dooley. My set at least is off to be painted and given a large diorama base soon. The figures are offered on Shapeways in 1/12 scale, and come in poses that are scenting, rooting, resting and walking.  Gorgeous set of Psittacosaurs for the fans that love these little guys, nicely done Aaron and thanks for sharing with me as you made them.

Great collection of Psittacosaurs Amarga!  Those new shapeways make an awesome herd together. :)

At the risk of sounding a tad self gratifying I do admit I am quite fond of this set Aaron has done....I remember a year ago thinking...if just one really solid Psittacosaur model were around it sure would be helpful.......and now here we have a set of four different. I am delighted Aaron has done this and made them availible so we can enjoy them.
Thanks for your kind words. I cannot wait to get them painted and given a nice diorama style base.

Thanks for sharing the piece Boki, I am still missing that one sadly. He is high on my list but my attempts to get one so far have met with silence. I never realized how closely the Salvat resembles the Carnegie piece, they could be brothers !!!

A unique piece to show off a bit. I have a close friend who has a special pet, an Amazon Blue front parrot named Cookie. As psittacosaurs are the "parrot lizards" she asked me if we might get a psittacosaurus painted to resemble Cookie. I chose one of my duplicates of Aaron Dooley's sculpt and asked Martin to recreate Cookie.  I was amazed at the outcome and my friend simply loves it.
Remember it was a commission so do not blame Martin if you do not like it....I know the feathered fans should approve though.
First here is Cookie, the model for the piece.

And here are the pictures of what we have named the "Cookie Monster"

That's really cool! Interestingly enough, I've considered having one of Aaron's Psittacosaurus models painted to resemble my parrot, Cosmo:

I would say based on current evidence that is a very workable idea. Nice bird Patrx. You should give it a try

I've just adquired my CollectA Psittacosaurus. Yes, that little guy.
I quite like it. But it could have a better paint job.

Congrats on your acquisition Megalosaurus...as you can see the figure paints up pretty nicely given a chance . Mine was of course done by Martin.

Very nice  :D  I'll repaint mine too. But i don't have Martin's skills. I haven't decide the colour scheme yet, but it will be something simple compared to your Martín and Copper Psittacosaurus.  :o

Some figures look best with a simple palette of colors and a laid back pattern, its all up to your own likes and what suits you best. I have something like eight psittacosaurus Martin has done, as well as a few by Bob Morales and of course the gorgeous piece by Copper...they are all different and each has  different "feel" to it.That is the neat thing about psittacosaurus, it makes a good guinea pig.

[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

The Oriental trading company had a set of small vinyl figures they sold for years back when.  The Psittacosaurus (stamped iguanodon) was the rare figure.  The other early figure was the Crayola moldasassurus figure.  The irony is that it is one of the best documented figures with so many fossils known.
You can never have too many dinosaurs

That paintjob and base of the CollectA Psittacosaurus are really beautiful! Did I miss a new trend while I was away?!
