Got too excited and just realized we don't have FX. lol

I'll just wait for your feedback and patiently wait for this to be made available through another outlet.

Given how bad Jurassic World was, and given that Trevorrow was unceremoniously fired from directing Star Wars IX, I am not the least bit encouraged by this news.
Fired from Star Wars 9 too...

More JW films certainly don't excite me (I watched the first one, and since people say the second one is even worse, I won't watch it, since I can't imagine how that's even possible), but some good toys and games have come out of it after all... Still playing JW Alive on mobile, haha...

Trevorrow said the short film is eight minutes long and features an Allosaurus and a Nasutoceratops.

Overlooked it was Star Wars somehow. But here's an article, for those who want to remember who this guy is:

A bit disappointing if that is true - not even as long as a standard cartoon episode (20 minutes).  'Guess my expectations were off.  When I read "short film", I immediately assumed it'd be along the standard run-time of 40 minutes.

I hope so.  But if it'll be as short as dragon53 mentioned, I won't be surprised if it just pops up on Youtube or something.

8 minutes? Jeez that's really short, but well I guess it is still something to tide us over until either Camp Cretaceous and/or JW3.

The original plan was to air it before another movie, so 8 minutes is considerably longer than I was expecting.

I'm far from a huge fan of Colin Trevorrow, and I do believe that he goofed Jurassic World, but Fallen Kingdom was a genuinely good movie, even going out of its way to specifically address most of the criticisms I had about JW.

confirmed running time is 8 minutes and will be shown after a screening of Jurassic World.

Nice interview [with the director] linked below:
http://collider.com/jurassic-world-short-film-colin-trevorrow-interview/

To the members wishing for an adult Allosaurus (as opposed to the juvenile we saw in the last movie), your wish has been granted.  Apparently, the allo that we saw escape from the basement pens is the returning character for "Battle at Big Rock"

Going to spoiler tag this because of FK ending stuff, since this seems to be taking place after it:

Spoiler
I think the most interesting take aways from that article is that the Allosaurus is confirmed to be an adult, which was probably the juvenile that escaped Lockwoood Manor at the end of FK, and that there was mention of a large dinosaur animatronic.

Hmm, it would be that the juvenile has grown up now, I wonder if this will be the design used in JW3 then. Pretty interesting to think it changes pretty radically in coloration though, aside from the spikes, if the toys, etc are anything to go by. Though I wonder if this redesign was done to make it more like the JWE one too?

Appalachiosaurus

The allosaurus situation is so weird. The lack of promotional material for it and the fact that they specified it was juvenile tells me they already wanted to redesign it by the time FK was nearing the end of pre-production. So were they already starting on this short all the way back then and decided to explain away the differences, or were they just so disappointed in the movie version that when a short film was commissioned they made sure to update it?

stargatedalek

The JWE version is this model, all of the FK animals in JWE use scaled down versions of the actual film models. Why Universal made two Allosaurus and only used one I can't say, but it was made during development of FK.

Appalachiosaurus

The JWE models are noticeably different from the FK models, they're clearly meant to be the same design but are different enough to suggest they are only reproductions. Plus the JWE Allosaurus is just the FK design with a bigger head and spikes, the new design has a drastically different head shape and brighter colors.

Kotori_Sonoda

Well, looks like Grant, Sattler and Malcolm will have some decent screentime in JWIII.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this news... dont' get me wrong, I'm glad the 3 who started this adventure get to be part of the "ending".  But Malcolm was just a glorified extra in the last film, despite the hype during the announcement.  I hope their roles are more substantial, even if they're not the stars.

As for the dinosaurs, it seems Collin's banking on nostalgia (given the casting announcement), so I guess it'd be too much to assume that the Allosaurus' role will be a major one.   It'd still probably be Rexy and Blue.

I'm still hoping to get a pleasant surprise though. ;D

I suppose there's nothing else left for Jurassic World to steal from the first film other than the cast.

Plot Twist: The Big One is alive!

Fun aside, I think it makes sense to bring those three back if this is really the grand finale.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend

They might even have someone pointing a rifle again!  :o

If you're referring to what I think you're referring (Number 14), then if all you see is "someone pointing a rifle", fair enough. I see so much more. In the call-backs/references/visual-nods (whatever you want to call them) in JW, including this one, there's often a swirl of elements simultaneously reinforcing each other to various degrees, not just shot content but also one or more of the following: frame composition, blocking, lighting, character context, behaviour and attitude, dialogue or lack thereof, body language, story context, location. The rifle one is not egregious, but surely no coincidence given the extent to which JW has undeniable mined the original films. Whether one cares or not is another matter, many viewers like it or are indifferent. In moderation I probably wouldn't mind, or even notice... but Jurassic World doesn't do moderation.
