Quote from: Carnoking on July 24, 2022, 08:14:13 PMThe Triceratops can be seen wandering through Biosyn Valley during the wild fire. It's about as apparent as it's appearance in JP3

Thanks. I guess I figure those were  Nasutoceratops, at first glance.

Yeah it was in the biosyn valley, and it was also present when Claire was driving the truck through a field.

So um new clip of Lystrosaurus vs Oviraptor dropped:

I think Swrve had more to show of the scene, but this is just straight to the point.
Spoiler
I'll be honest I was not expecting that at all lol. Leonard has no chill lol. And to think I just pre-ordered the set with this little dude in it because I thought it was cute still, even though it viciously bit the bad dude's hand (still want it though). I guess this is why this scene was cut from theatrical. Brutal. The fact it also ran around like a chicken without its head on, is just wow lol. The amount of disrespect this poor dinosaur had is downright sad (nevermind it also didn't get a single figure yet, and still not in JWE2 yet either, but neither is Lystrosaurus, Atrociraptor, etc).

Honestly it reminds me of that one Spongebob episode where he was happy to be on TV or whatever, even though he was barely visible. Similar vibes.

Should have had the Lystrosaurus face off with the Giga at the end. He sure wouldn't have needed an assist from the Therizinosaurus!

CityRaptor

Don't mess with Leonard! No wonder one of the promotional pictures of that set has both Maisie and Beta facing it.

One alone stands no chance!

You know, I also joked at JPtoys regarding this set:

QuoteUseful in case you ever wanted to pit the Raptor Squads against each other. They then all get their butts handed to them by a trio of Lystrosaurus. :D
Guess that could actually happen.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

The fact that Leonard just stood there coldly calculating when it would attack too, also got me, lol. I think this and the Therizinosaurus are my favorites from the film now, even if this is only in the extended version. I think it's just the absurdity of it all that gets me.

avatar_CityRaptor @CityRaptor Oh where did you find a high quality image of that set? I've been aware of that multipack set for a while, but never saw an image of that quality for it before.

Also yes I could see that happening, lol. Might be the motivation to breed a strong Lystrosaurus in Ark as well.

Edit: I managed to dig this up, but the pic isn't as high quality here. https://shop.mattel.com/es-mx/products/jurassic-world-multipack-mini-dinosaurios-gyy79-es-mx

I don't know where it is originally from, but it was posted in this thread at JPToys by Diamondback:

Alright, so, bare with me. This is a bit of an unpopular opinion, but something that has really bothered me about the movie and its merchandise is the attempt to make certain dinosaurs 'important'. The atrociraptor is a hilarious attempt at this.

With only a few minutes of screentime and no involvement in the plot afterward, they were a pathetic secondary villain. Sure, they look cool, but come on, nobody would have bothered to learn their names if it were not for the merchandise telling us. The atrociraptors are meant to be a very large role, as one can tell by the mass amounts of promotion using them, but does it make sense for them to be relevant? No!

These guys got, what? 8 minutes or less of runtime? The raptors have no personality, no purpose, and lack a reason to even be in the movie. If the scene were cut entirely from the movie, little to nothing would change. Unlike other dinosaurs that get lots of merchandise, (Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus, etc) these guys are pretty bare bones.

The four raptors lack any 'character' to them

Sure, they have cool designs, but once you look past the colors it's a slightly broader velociraptor with little to no changes on the model

They do not stay long enough to have any effect on the watcher.

They are boring, they are predictable, and they are just another dinosaur chase scene in this mess of a movie.
An oversized house cat.

Ditto. I was expecting them to have a larger role. Even the Giga had less of a presence in the film than what trailers hinted as.

Shadowknight1

While I mostly like Dominion, I'm still a bit salty that we basically saw the entirety of the Pyroraptor scene in trailers and commercials.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

Trailer released for the EXTENDED VERSION of JURASSIC PARK: DOMINION which will be released on August 16.
The EXTENDED VERSION includes, "An extended cut of the film with 14 minutes of additional footage featuring more dinosaurs, action, iconic character moments and an alternate opening."

Carnoking

I wondered if by trailer it meant they would be doing a brief theatrical run of the extended version. Perhaps that would help put it over the edge and into the 1 Billion Dollar Club. Even if it doesn't reach such a goal, it's already surpassed Dr. Strange as the second highest grossing film of the year so I'll take whatever it ends at as a win.

CARNOKING:

The Univeral Pictures website says the August 16 date is, "Yours to own....digital, 4K UHD and blu-ray"

Carnoking

I should have clarified, I realized after watching the link that it was for the blu-ray/4K release (which is still good news)

Primeval12

Just got my Blu-Ray. I Thought the extended version was included as a download code but apparently it is only the original version. Is there any way to access the extended version or is it just on the disc?

Faelrin

Yeah I felt they were pointless. Neat designs but no reason they couldn't have just brought back the original raptors to begin with. Furthermore it is a bit odd they are missing in JWE2 right now (no doubt coming in another dlc). Alternatively give more screen time and depth to having your first feathered raptor, the Pyroraptor, instead of that terrible scene.

They could have easily had it as Biosyn's "pure" raptor to counter InGen's featherless oversized "Velociraptor". Especially with all the marketing (well I mean it is nice to see a Jurassic movie with a feathered raptor getting out there everywhere. I mean at the very least some people can be brought up to times if they didn't watch Prehistoric Planet instead).

Mellow Stego

So I just downloaded the Extended version of JW dominion. Haven't watched it yet, but plan so tonight with the wife when our kid goes to bed.

I haven't even watched the theater cut yet either.
That being said, this movie has a "R" rating? Am I missing something?
Keep calm and love dinosaurs

There were some particularly brutal (on screen in full view) deleted scenes.

Carnoking

Wow, first R-rated Jurassic movie, that's awesome.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Had some issues with Amazon and my extended edition preorder, said it was supposed to arrive yesterday. Now it just says Jan 2023.  So I cancelled and reordered and now it's coming Thursday.  No idea why just FYI.
