I have never cared for this sculpt, but you really bring out the best in it.

It is a repaint by Martin Garratt, so he deserves all the credit. I am sorry if it would seem this is my work. I could never achieve these kinds of results. Maybe I shouldpost this in another thread.

Ah, my mistake! I think I just didn't read closely enough.  :-[

Martin did a fantastic job for you.  I like the "classic" look very much - it takes me back far too many years!

Same here. Aside from the fact these are finely sculpted models (possibly some of the best ever in this scale, in my view) it is mostly nostalgia that makes me adore the British Museum (Natural History) dinosaur toy model line as much as I do. It takes a real artist, like Mr Garratt, to enhance the models' sculpts and bring out (or suggest more) details.

Impressive work...makes me want to get the paints and brushes out! :)

A new repaint (of the Sega Tyrannosaurus). I may change a few things here and there.

I really like it, specially the main body coloration.

I am not satisfied at all. I think I will need to repaint it completely :-(

A repaint (a repaint of a painted model that originally comes unpainted, so technically, going by the rules of this forum, not a repaint, as repaint implies a model that originally comes painted. I guess..) of my Tamiya Brachiosaurus.

Shonisaurus

Fantastic repainting of the brachiosaurus. A magnificent job has been done.

Thank you. I am quite satisfied with the results, taking into account the limited means at my disposal (just brushes and acryllic paints, applied thinly and in many layers).

DinoToyForum

Yes, that looks great, a professional job!

SidB

Remarkable what can be accomplished with "just" brushes. Well done!

That looks fantastic. It's understated but very far from boring.

I have bought an airbrush set, because I hope to get "better" results with it. I tried first on this little model, one of my favorite (pun not intended) T. rex models, which I painted before, but was not satisfied with. Of course, I still have a long way to go in my learning experience, but I am not dissatisfied with this result.

That's a pretty nice repaint

Thanks for the compliments. It will be interesting to see where all of my doodling leads. I have many models to practice on.

If anyone of you good people would have any advice about airbrushing, I would gladly receive.

Thanks.

I tried to give the iToy Ceratosaurus a bit more color. I used a bit of (self-)reference to guide me. I find it difficult to come up with real interesting color-schemes and shapes that "work". The face may seem a bit too much clownesque or "war paint"-like, but possibly that's because of the high contrast and saturation of the colors. And then to think that the "white" on the face isn't white in real life, but much more like a very light beige, and the "black" is more like burnt umber. Indeed, colors do "shift" appearance in different combinations. But lighting conditions come into play as well. (The face is lit by a very cool white spotlight: 6000K. White balance in the camera was set to automatic.) I may need to give it a little dark wash. Anyhow, apart from all that pedantic talk, painting figures in a lifelike manner is a craft in itself.

Gothmog the Baryonyx

That's a stunning painting, it looks like a believable animal.
