If you count the new tube, then CollectA's 2019 line is evenly split between dinosaurs and other prehistorics.

I think it's a pretty good set of new releases this year. Their Baryonyx definitely needed an update, and Carnotaurus was an obvious gap in their line (Giganotosaurus next year maybe?). I'm glad they're keeping their trademark exotic species choices; that Elasmotherium in particular looks incredible.

The playset isn't something I think I'd pick up but I love the concept.

Yeah, initially did it for myself and neither of those items were of interest to me but for complete coverage they should be on there. Revised version coming when I find some time tomorrow.

The sculpting and quality of their models has come on a very long way. I've bought some of their models in the past, just because they're unusual species, but was frequently disappointed by them looking derpy, cartoonish, uneven and badly painted in many cases. I know their chosen paint schemes are still very hit and miss (indeed it's put me right off the Caiuajara) and the actual production models occasionally fail to live up to the prototypes (Ceratosaurus), but the modelling is generally light years ahead of what it used it be. Hopefully the days of overly wide pelvises and twinkle-toed theropods are long gone! I can't help but feel that some of the figures are too narrow (Beishanlong) which is the opposite extreme, but given a decent lick of paint and a bit of base modification, some could pass as desktop models ^-^

I'd say CollectAs got a pretty stellar line-up. I'm looking forward to the Elasmotherium (perhaps, it could be modded into a unicorn  >:D). I think I should probably pick up their rather unique take on the Arsinoi as a companion piece.

What I see there is criticism about the caiuajara pterosaur by members of the forum (forum members will have their reasons to criticize it and I deserve all the respect in the world and all my understanding) for my part my opinion about this pterosaur that is so bright as the guidraco and dimorphodon, within my absolute ignorance about paleontology or zoology and in my case I am quite satisfied with this new release of deluxe size pterosaur and I think it is a awesome figure and I think that his real figure will be so bright or more than the prototype figure.

Thank you CollectA for all these beautiful figures. You will make 2019 one of the best year for collecting!!!

They are seven figures of prehistoric animals on the part of Collecta that are worth each one of them by twenty figures of which they produced in the first years. I am glad that they have made obscure species and do not forget the Paleozoic (edaphosaurus) and the Mesozoic (elasmotherium), two species that I looked forward to and have the appearance that I had always liked that I had made a toy company of these two obscure prehistoric animals.

On the other hand, the theropods are of a beauty and precision that greatly improve those of previous years (carnotaurus and baryonyx were two necessary figures) one the baryonxy needed an improved reissue and the carnotaurus was something very demanded by collectors, On the other hand, the Japanese fukuiraptor is a obscure figure and the most important thing that Collecta has abandoned is his "war" paintings that tarnished such beautiful figures.

The pterosaur caiuajara and boroalopelta apart from very rare figures in the toy market are of an incomparable perfection.

My greatest wish is that the real figures do not change anything, it is more that they are much better than the prototypes or in another case the same as those prototypes shown in the photographs. I cross in this case the fingers. The same is true for Mojo, Schleich and Papo (if they come to market a prehistoric animal and I sincerely settle for a new figure apart from the repainted ones, whatever it is). Fortunately Schleich is seen that the figure does not vary with respect to the prototype, it surpasses even the promotional photo.

Amazing revelations of prehistoric animals.

Very succesful year for CollectA too, all of them are great sculpts and the Elasmotherium is gorgeous. I'm very interested in Edaphosaurus.

Halichoeres

Funny, I think from the standpoint of accuracy and variety this is one of the better years from CollectA, but for my somewhat eccentric collection (one per genus, with few exceptions, no interest in the Cenozoic, and a special fondness for aquatic animals), there are only three figures to interest me this year: Edaphosaurus, Caiuajara, and Borealopelta. The theropods have the misfortune of representing species for which I already have figures I like better (Safari Carnotaurus, Favorite Baryonyx, and Favorite and Kaiyodo Fukuiraptors). As a result, I think 2019 will be the first year since I started collecting when more CollectA figures leave my collection than enter it, as companies like PNSO, Vitae, and maybe EoFauna drop figures that improve on CollectA versions.

The mini playset is pretty unimpressive. Where did every toy company get the impression that every dinosaur lived and died within spitting distance of an active volcano? I'm all for more playsets, but can they depict a real, plausible environment, please? And it comes with useless retread minis, not even a single new species to sweeten the deal.

I am in the same boat.  It's not that I don't like the other figures, but they don't fit my particular collection as I already have representatives of those species with which I am happy.

Sauropelta

If you tilt the Caiuajara left you get an egyptian eye.

As far as which ones i'll buy it'll be Borealopelta for accuracy and the fact we don't get nearly enough nodosaur/ankylosaur figures in this hobby. A lot of cool ones could be made if people showed interest.
Sauropelta (Meaning 'lizard shield') is a genus of nodosaurid dinosaur that existed in the Early Cretaceous Period of North America. One species (S. edwardsorum) has been named although others may have existed. Anatomically, Sauropelta is one of the most well-understood nodosaurids, with fossilized remains recovered in the U.S. states of Wyoming, Montana, and possibly Utah.

While next year's lineup isn't particularly diverse (3 theropods and 1 ornithscian, pelycosaur, pterosaur and mammal), it certainly makes up for this by being one of the most consistently high-quality lineups CollectA has ever revealed. They also seem to have reduced their usage of the ugly green colour that was common last year to the already-weak Fukuiraptor (the Edaphosaurus' shade of green is a lot more pleasant to the eyes). Apart from the aforomentioned figure, this seems like it's going to be the first year since 2016 where Safari Ltd might have some serious competition with them in terms of best figure of the year.

Of the lineup, the Borealopelta, Edaphosaurus and Baryonyx are the figures I'm definitely getting, and I might get the Carnotaurus.

Shonisaurus

In my case I'm going to get the seven figures of prehistoric animals (I like them very much as a collector) because they are for me outstanding figures and also the excellent tube of prehistoric mammals. It is the best year of Collecta in terms of the quality of their figures by far.

You're forgetting 2017. The Supreme Dimorphodon was even voted Best Non-Dinosaur Figure of the Year by Prehistoric Times magazine.

Also, I'm really not understanding the hate-on for the Fukuiraptor. The colours work fine for a predatory dinosaur that probably inhabited forest regions and the reconstruction is in keeping with what we know so far about megaraptorans.

Yes, for some reason I always forget about that specific figure. I wasn't aware that it won its own PT poll though, so thanks for informing me about that.

On second thought, while I still think 2017 was a better year for Safari Ltd than CollectA, it was definitely a closer competition than this year was. I also now think next year's lineup is more like 2017's lineup than 2016's lineup, in terms of how it competes with Safari Ltd.'s lineup for the same year.

amargasaurus cazaui

may buy all the major models for once.....am fond of the Boreopelta especially. Quite glad to see no ceratopsian with a rear Mohawk.  The fuki is alright but the lack of remains makes it rather almost a crypto type

No matter what percentage of your collection is CollectA I'm sure it will remain one of the most impressive collections I have ever seen.
