I can always count on CollectA when it comes to obscure species!  ^-^

Definitely picking up the Borealopelta, the more nodosaurs the better.
Not too convinced on the colours of Caiuajara, the signature CollectA war paint is jarring, and the body colours are a bit too similar to Guidraco's, but I have a soft spot for Tapejarids, so into the bag he goes.
Other than the mini estemmenosuchus, the box set is pretty average. Not a fan of CollectA shrinking down their larger models and repackaging them in these sets. Why can't CollectA give us new sculpts? Or new species?

PhilSauria

I like standing Pterosaurs and have the other two Collecta deluxe figures of these critters so, into my bag as well with this one (wish they'd done a deluxe Pteranodon, maybe one day). So looks like a thread to keep a close eye on now if the reveals have started.

Faelrin

This has been one heck of a night of reveals for me.

I'm so so happy they did a Borealopelta figure. I can't wait for that to become available. Aside from what Safari Ltd has delivered for 2019 (that I was hoping for, such as the Carnotaurus, Styracosaurus, new Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, and Pteranodon, etc), I was hoping someone would make a figure of this one, especially after it blew up in the news last year. I'm really glad CollectA got right on it. And it seems to have the reddish color too.

The new toob looks pretty interesting too. Pretty surprisingly that although it's mostly mammals/Cenozoic, they had good ole Estemmenosuchus in it.

That pterosaur looks like an interesting fellow too. I think CollectA's typical gaudy warpaint color schemes work best on pterosaurs (and maybe ceratopsians to a degree).

Yeah, for my part I'll definitely get the Borealopelta and the Caiuajara. I'm not sure about the tube, literally the only figure in there that interests me is the Estemmenosuchus. I'd rather its company had been other, maybe smaller, Permian animals, but maybe a Cenozoic fan will want to split the tube with me.

A permian set would've been amazing. They could reuse their Dimetrodon and Estemmenosuchus, and give us bizarre amphibians like Platyhystrix, diplocaulus (with boomerang head concealed by soft tissue), Cacops... Gorgonopsids, Edaphosaurus etc.
A wasted opportunity, as with most of their tubes "box sets".

I like the three revelations alike,

The Caiuajara de Collecta is so great and super outstanding as the guidraco and the dimorphodon, although I really like this weird pterosaur, I would have liked also that Collecta had revealed figures of pterosaurus obscure as ptedodaustro or dsungaripterus. But in my case I am very happy with the new revelation of pterosaur and the colors of the crest are of overwhelming beauty I celebrate that Collecta continues embarked on making obscure prehistoric animals. The colors of the pterosaur and its pose are more dynamic than the guidraco, and it has similarity with said pterosaur.

The Borealopelta de Collecta is a very well finished nodosaur and that fits perfectly with the paleoartistic representations of this species. The similarity in terms of painting and modeling are identical to the paleoartistic works of this species. The best armored dinosaur made to date (I know I look like a shredded disk) but it is also true that each year every prehistoric animal company excels geometrically and arithmetically in quality and beauty in relation to its figures.

On the other hand I celebrate that they have made a tube of prehistoric mammals and prehistoric animals of the Paleozoic and Cenozoic, I am going to be a faithful buyer of those miniatures. It seems great to me that Collecta makes those miniatures in the sense that it is ideal for those people who do not want or can not afford to buy the figures in Deluxe size of these prehistoric animals. Magnificent year of the Collecta brand and above all, we have not forgotten those collectors who like the obscure species of prehistoric animals. My congratulations to Collecta. It is a pity that we still have to wait until the first quarter of next year to obtain these beauties.

These look great. I definitely will purchase that beautiful pterosaur.

However, I have to ask, why is there an Estemmenosuchus, a paleozoic reptile, packaged alongside cenozoic mammals? It's not even balanced out with other mammal-like reptiles such as dimetroron or edaphosaurus. It just seems odd to me.

Oh well. I'll still buy it  :))

My opinions on this line-up so far:

Borealopelta: A must buy. The detail on the figure, especially on the armour, looks pretty good, and they stayed quite faithful to the colouration of the species. It is also good to see that they are making a highly requested genus. Overall, a great figure.
Scale: ~1:37

Caiuajara: While I'm not personally interested in the Supreme Line, it is good to see they're still releasing figures in it, as it is obvious lots of people like it. Contrary to what some have said, I think the colour scheme is reasonable. There are, in my opinion, times where 'war-paint' works well, and this is definitely one of them. Overall, not a bad figure, but i'll likely pass on it.
Scale: ~1:6

Cenozoic and Paleozoic Box Set: All I'll say was this was a wasted opportunity for them to make an actually interesting box set, which they have done before.

So far, this doesn't seem like as bad of a year as the rumour stated. Both of the standalone figures seem consistently liked (shame I can't say the same about the box set), and the colour palette is already more diverse and visually interesting than the whole of last year.

I really like Collecta's Deluxe Supreme pterosaurs (they are the best in the pterosaur toy market), but I would really like them to do pterosaurs also on a smaller scale and in a flight posture, that is, dynamically not four paws. The Deluxe Supreme line by Collecta is appreciated, but I would also like you to make pterosaurs from the Deluxe line to scale.

On the other hand the borealopelta is a very nice figure but I would have liked it to have been made in Deluxe scale in a scale of bigger size for several reasons. It is a beautifully sculpted figure and in larger size would be great and on the other hand is the most complete armored dinosaur and nodosaurian of the fossil record as I have reported on the Internet and it is a pity that is made in the popular line, finally is the dinosaur Battleship more beautifully sculpted by the brand Collecta to date.

With all this I congratulate the Collecta brand that always surprises us with obscure and rare figures in the toy market and these personal appreciations I formulate it as always with all the respect in the world for those people of the DTF who do not agree with my statement that more than censor the company Collecta in this case is to praise it as one of my favorite dinosaur companies and the opinion I suggest as a suggestion to this outstanding company that has surprised us with two prehistoric animals of honor note as always commented.

ceratopsian

I will have to investigate my pterosaur shelf to see if I can fit in another custom-painted Supreme!  As for the Borealopelta, trust CollectA to be first off the mark here!  I don't exactly need one as my resin version from Lone Trike arrived yesterday. But I probably won't be able to resist it to keep my toy nodosaurs company. It looks excellent. I am not tempted by the minis. I can see there is money to be saved by reducing existing models but as a collector I yearn for some new creatures, especially from the Permian.

Concavenator

The only one that interests me so far is the Caiuajara.Though there is actually one very silly error on it.

If you look at its throat, you will see that it has pycnofibers there. However ,it was proved that pycnofibers can't have been colored blue. However,CollectA still has time to fix that before it releases.

It is a great sculpt anyways, and even if  they don't end up fixing that,it won't be that hard to paint that part yourself  :P

tyrantqueen

I like the Caiuajara, but it's a deluxe so likely too big for my tastes. The others are a pass also.

avatar_tyrantqueen @tyrantqueen The truth is that the caiuajara will take up a lot of space on the shelves. It would be great if it was half the size. In this I totally agree. Being half as big would be less economically expensive and the most important thing would be as detailed as the one that will be marketed.

On the other hand it is a pity I repeat that the borealopelta of Collecta that is spectacular could have done it in Deluxe version instead of standard version. It is one of the best detailed dinosaurs and the best by far of all the armored ones that Collecta has done (outstanding in all the senses) so that Collecta had done it in Deluxe version. It would have been great.

They had to have equated in size both prehistoric animal figures neither the caiuajara so big nor the borealopelta so small. A medium-large size such as the ceratosaurus or feathered Tyrannosaurus of Collecta for both figures would have been the most appropriate.

suspsy

Ah, I do so love waking up to this kind of thing in the morning!

The Borealopelta looks magnificent and it's great to finally have another ankylosaur after four years.

Caiuajara is a neat choice. CollectA could easily have gone with Tapejara or Tupanodactylus, but instead they went with something newer and less known. I don't give a fig what anyone else says; I love those funky colours. Can't wait to see what it looks like alongside the Guidraco and the Dimorphodon. They need to do a Supreme azhdarchid next.

Strange that Estemmenosuchus and not Gomphotherium is included in that prehistoric mammal tube. Perhaps someone felt that three proboscidians was too many? Or that a little colour variety was needed? It would have been nice if there were a couple of all-new animals in the assortment, but it's hardly surprising that there aren't. With the exception of the marine tube and prehistoric tube B, all of CollectA's tubes consist of miniature versions of previously released toys.

Overall, a very exciting first reveal. Can't wait till next Friday!

The Borealopelta looks really good, from the look of that image it looks like their best ankylosaur to date. The pterosaur it's certainly an eye catching figure with those vivid colors, it would make a great companion to the other Supremes.

DragonRider02

Oh my God that pterosaur is AMAZING!! I love the colors on the crest and everything! I MUST have it! ❤️

Now I don't care if there are going to be only five dinos/prechistoric Animals indeed. That Pterosaur is satisfying 100% of my CollectA needs.

Shonisaurus

Normally Collecta reveals its best novelties of prehistoric animals in the last announcement of 2019 so I hope that there will be very pleasant surprises for all collectors and fans of prehistory and of course experts in paleontology apart from the main audience of any brand of prehistoric animals: children.

I cannot take my eyes off this beautiful Caiuajara and its attractive color scheme. I really love how CollectA applies bright and attractive color schemes on its figures and its dedication on obscure species by listening to their fans. It will match the other deluxe pterosaurs well from CollectA as well, such as the Guidraco and the Dimorphodon. The Borealopelta is a neat figure, the colour scheme simple but suits it well and the details on it are good also.Looking at it, I think it will not be that large. The toob of prehistoric mammals is quite good, the little figures will match their bigger sculpts, the mini Estemmenosuchus is an oddity in this toob. They could have replaced it with a real prehistoric mammal, for example, a mini version of their Gompotherium and not a creature in the evolution of mammals. But still, it is good, this may be just me. On a positive side, it is good to include an animal which gave rise to mammals in the past. The mini Kelenken is an oddity also, but as its name suggests; the mini toob of Cenozoic and Paleozoic critters, it must include a terror bird also. I know that many of you are taking a look at the 2019 new releases from CollectA but let me add the figures that will be retired also:

The CollectA Deluxe 1:20 scale Paraceratherium model.

Retired CollectA models 2019.  Becklespinax (top left), Muttaburrasaurus (top right), the Koreaceratops family group (middle left) and Tsintaosaurus (middle right) with the armoured dinosaur Edmontonia below Tsintaosaurus.  The figure at the bottom is the swimming Spinosaurus, all these dinosaur models are being dropped by CollectA from the Prehistoric Life model range.

Well these are being retired in 2019 by CollectA, confirmed also by everythingdinosaur. I think it is great time for these to be retired also because most of them are quite old models from the early days of CollectA. Quite sad to see the beautiful swimming Spinosaurus being retired also; maybe it was not selling well. The retirement of these may indicate that hopefully; I am not sure, that CollectA may release a resculpt of one or more of these figures, like Safari Ltd releasing resculpts of its old Carnegie models, or how CollectA itself has released a resculpt of their Mapusaurus for 2018. Anyways, I hope this has been helpful and I felt that this was good also to add to this topic. I think I will be among the last ones to buy some of these figures, because in my country, there are none of these figures and I must wait for an opportunity when I travel to other countries to buy these figures. I cannot wait already to see the other half list of figures to be released!

stargatedalek

That Caiuajara is spectacular! Exactly what I've been hoping for from CollectA.

I think I'm going to need to buy an extra one of these and another Guidraco and do a head swap, get myself some in matching poses.
