Maybe I should reinstate Collecta's Leedsichthys. At least just until there's actually hundreds of Faunacasts Leedsies in existence.

I don't think there needs to be hundreds of Faunacasts Leedsichthys for it to be eligible, I think it could be enough if everyone known to have ordered one receives theirs.  Since two people have apparently received theirs though, I don't mind it counting for the USL.

On a different subject, I think it was a good idea to exclude Shapeways figures from the USL.  They are their own thing in a way, and it's possible that if no-one ever paid to have a Shapeways figure printed, that figure would never actually exist.  I think the Shapeways figures on the USL should be removed as it suggests they are being counted, and it contradicts some figures being on there (e.g. CollectA Xenoceratops) when there is also a Shapeways version of the animal.

I was curious about which figures wouldn't be on the USL due to Shapeways figures previously being counted.  I did a search in this thread and based on this, the following figures should go on the USL:

Safari Chasmatosaurus
Bullyland Europasaurus
Favorite Turiasaurus

Sim makes a very good point: "It's possible that if no-one ever paid to have a Shapeways figure printed, that figure would never actually exist."

I'm inclined to agree with his views on Shapeways. They are really just virtual models, with the possibility of a physical reality but not a definite one.

If a dinosaur model is uploaded to Shapeways but nobody is there to print it, does it still make a sound?

You all make valid points. Guess I better start getting around to annihilating the Shapeways presence on the USL then... :)

Roselaar

Shapeways has been purged. 20 species extinct again...

Sim

Roselaar, it looks like you missed this about some figures that would belong on the USL:

You're right, I didn't notice that, sorry.

Chasmatosaurus is probably right. Europasaurus was on the USL before, but got kicked off. I don't think it was because of a Shapeways figure though. I also remember Turiasaurus being discussed before. Anyone know of other models of these species?

As I commented on in the post, using the search function in this thread shows those three figures are not listed on the USL due to Shapeways figures.  I don't know of any other versions of these three animals, and I actually don't even know of a Shapeways Chasmatosaurus.

Below are links to relevant posts in this thread:

Halichoeres says the only other Chasmatosaurus he knows of is on Shapeways: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=763.msg147797#msg147797

You remove the Bullyland Europasaurus due to Shapeways: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=763.msg169522#msg169522

Turiasaurus is removed from the USL due to the Favorite figure, and after Halichoeres commented on it, you said the one that was on the USL is a Shapeways figure: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=763.msg109094#msg109094

Everyone keeps saying Shapeways Chasmatosaurus...do we mean the Champsosaurus? Because those are actually on Shapeways...and in the Safari toob.

Roselaar

Aside from Shapeways, Chasmatosaurus and Champsosaurus are only done by Safari, right?

Sim, you really did your research. I'll add those three tomorrow then. :)

Roselaar

Deleted Pyroraptor from the list. Now to add some BotM Raptors. But which ones?

Atrociraptor, Balaur, Zhenyuanlong and Linheraptor appear good choices, unless you know something I don't. ;)

Roselaar

Added Atrociraptor, Balaur, Linheraptor and Zhenyuanlong. Thanks for the pics, Halichoeres! :)

Balaur has also been produced by brandem: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=2567.0
I wonder what happened to Brandem's Obscurus line. It had a lot of potential.

Thus I had been informed. However, the output of this line proved far too small to count for the USL. Or can you supply numbers to prove otherwise?

Sim

All I can say is that it appears to have been sold on both Dan's Dinosaurs and Fauna Figures as shown in the links below, and that I'm not aware of a limit on how many were produced at the time.  On the page for this Balaur model on Dan's Dinosaurs it also says, "Unpainted resin castings available upon request".  If you already know the output of this line is too small to count for the USL, then I guess that's that.  Although I wonder how the output of brandem's models compare to the Faunacasts models, the latter of which are counted for the USL.  I don't have the impression there's been less produced of some of brandem's models compared to for example the Faunacasts Leedsichthys.

Roselaar

Oh geez, your logic is flawless...

Maybe I should kick off all resin models produced by lone hobbyists as well, they're hard to keep track off as is, while it's unfair to count some and not others simply because I'm unsure about their distribution. After all, 'available upon request' is basically what Shapeways model makers do, and I quit Shapeways, too.

Roselaar

I should probably add Collecta's Mantellisaurus and Sciurumimus, right?

Halichoeres

Yeah, those two and the last three BotM taxa: Acheroraptor, Adasaurus, and Tsaagan.
