Ah, I remember those! I think I have both of the prehistoric sharks and one other, all unpainted. Nice models.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin to the first part: what Sean said. There were only two prehistorics.

To the second part: very kind of you, although I'd say some would disagree with your assessment of my character. The member in question isn't really active anymore and had a lot going on in their own life. It was annoying but not the end of the world.

I painted one my first Hybodus. It arrived with a spine broken off, so they replaced it.

Someday I'll paint one of the smoothhounds. I have two after all!

I suppose Haylee the Helicoprion should be added here.

Shonisaurus

That figure is the largest shark we have in the toy dinosaur world after its megalodon counterpart. Magnificent figure from PNSO, now only the Collecta xiphactinus is missing unless it is already added to the thread.

Just got mine in a couple of days ago and drafting the review. I'm so glad to have it, although like every other company PNSO's research seems to be a little better on their dinosaurs than on their non-dinosaurs.

Mine's sitting in Customs... hopefully I see it soon...

That's a pretty cool Helicoprion. I like the ragged fins and the green eyes. It does seem to me that the detailing on the face is a bit overdone; it almost makes it look like a preserved specimen rather than a live animal. Maybe I'm overthinking it; it just seems too sculptured compared to a typical large pelagic fish. Possibly the extra countershading picking out the bulge below the eye is the problem. I guess that's a conundrum for sculptors of big marine animals - if you represent them as appropriately streamlined, your figure seems lazy, so you have to Papo it up with exaggerated detail.

Question: Am I correct in my belief that Helicoprion, and its close cousins, are still only known from teeth and endocranium remains? And that the pelvic/anal fin absence is based on caseodontid body fossils?

HLJ doesn't charge you until the items are actually going to ship, so it's always worth a shot placing an order.

I did and ... tadaah, after a short wait of two weeks three of the four figures I ordered were available and sent to me. Cool :) .
The two prehistoric species are also in stock again:

I agree on the head sculpturing, and you're correct that the fin complement is based on caseodontids.

That's good news! I'm glad they're still offering them.

Python

Are there any other early fish in the same bin set as the Climatius was sold in? That's what dino toy collector site says here: http://www.dinosaurcollectorsitea.com/bin.htm

Most of the fish from that same set are low end recasts of modern Prior/Azur fish models, but the acanthidiian was not.
It's the only definitive prehistoric fish, but the 'bala shark' in the set is more likely a terrible ichthyosaur

Gwangi

I see that the PNSO Cretoxyrhina hasn't been posted here yet, I shall fix that.

Faelrin

This year has been a really good one for prehistoric fish fans. Can't believe how many we've gotten, give or take O @Oammararak 's Life game ones as well.

It is such a beautiful prehistoric shark. Something different rather than another Megalodon doesn't happen often in the prehistoric shark toy market. Hopefully if PNSO start to produce prehistoric marine animals again, we'll receive another unique prehistoric shark.

Has anyone gotten their game yet? She posted over two months ago she'd be shipping them all out "next month"... and nothing.

I have all of mine now.

Shonisaurus

I am not very big the helicoprion and the cretoxyrhina of PNSO considering the comparative photo with the xiphactinus Collecta and the dunkleosteus Safari. Thank you for sharing the photo. Hopefully they make more prehistoric fish like these.

Faelrin

avatar_BlueKrono @BlueKrono I still owe shipping to be honest. Hoping I can send it next month. I can try to reach out to her on FB though if you'd like?

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin I've tried on KS and gotten no response. Would be nice if creators could update their supporters every month or two.
