That's pretty cool. Is it on Shapeways?

avatar_SBell @SBell it was! But I think I got the only copy, it's not up there last I checked. It was kind of a funny story: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=3390.msg265439#msg265439

Is that a figure that can be obtained for a reasonable amount?

How big is it and what is it made out of?

Halichoeres

S @stoneage it's polyurethane resin, about 8 cm long.

avatar_SBell @SBell I don't know what reasonable is to you, but I'll say that I found it reasonable (although I bought it together with the Tiktaalik, so I don't actually know what this individual piece cost me). As discussed here, I'd recommend inquiring directly of David Duck. You can also buy the unpainted cast for a fraction of the cost.

Who are these companies?

Halichoeres

Ordovis is Japanese. I actually don't remember how I got in touch with them but I'm pretty sure they have a web site.

Haven't been able to find that site. Yet.

But, I just realized we follow each other on Twitter!

Yes, same here! That's how I found them, but I'd forgotten. Here's the web site for anyone else interested. I actually ordered the Cheirolepis last year, but it's waiting in Japan for a more favorable shipping situation. http://ordovis.livedoor.blog/ (in Japanese)

How expensive are they?

$200-$250, thereabouts. I'd personally never pay that much for a statue of a dinosaur, a nice version of which can almost always be had cheaper, but there are few enough high-end fish models that I can justify this kind of expense once in a while.

Yeah, that puts them out of my general range!

Flaffy

Thanks for the heads up on Ordovis avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres ! Their finished Dicranurus model is very tempting, way more economic than an actual fossil Dicranurus too!

One thing I've noticed however, I can't seem to find their Coccosteus. Has that model been discontinued?
