That new paint job makes the model look less like a Schleich model and more like a figure you buy from Rebor or Nanmu. I am very impressed

I Own the 2020 Baryonyx myself and its certainly one of the best replicas of the species to have come out from the major companys.

One thing about Schleich though
I have to Argue that THIS  is their Greatest Achievment >:D

Jokes
avatar_Silvanusaurus @Silvanusaurus - a very fine make-over. I particularly like the dental work. Exacto knife and/or file?
avatar_Takama @Takama, clearly their Cerato represents the very apex of this art. Mystically baaad! So bad that it still takes on a quasi-cultic aura. Never topped in and for what it is in itself, IMO. So glad that I own one too.

Shonisaurus

Hopefully Schleich will make similar figures in genius updated of the albertosaurus, allosaurus and ceratosaurus as the baryonyx theropod of this year 2020.

CityRaptor

Probably depends on what artwork they rip off.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Libraraptor

As ugly as they are, they have become classics thanks to their blatant ugliness.

You laugh now, but I give it 2 years before Papo gives up on the "kangaroo stepping on a land mine" pose and all their figures look like this.

I just used a craft knife, you can see where I slipped up and cut a nasty wound in his snout.

You make a compelling argument for the Ceratosaurus, sadly I don't own that particular slice of congealed majesty to compare, but I think I'll try to get my hands on one soon.

terrorchicken

that ceratosaurus reminds me of that really really ancient paleoart from the Victorian era. I can sorta see the retro charm in it.

Unlikely, given that Papo at least usually has nicer looking sculpts, even if the poses might be akward, I don't think so.

Looking at that Ceratosaurus, I think Schleich should re-release that one and some other Replica Saurus figures in garish colors and limited numbers. Kinda like certain Godzilla collectibles or designer toys.

avatar_Silvanusaurus @Silvanusaurus - well, better the snout of our saurian friend than your finger, for sure.
@ CityRaptor - absolutely, it's so bad that it's great. I can see the Cerato as a gargoylish desktop paperweight or some other unique role. The imagination can run wild. Then there's the Replicasaurus Bary or the Ourano too from days past.

ItsTwentyBelow

Haha, I don't know their Ouranosaurus was also a pinnacle that has yet to be reached again!

In all seriousness, I am let down this year by Schleich as a whole. That nice Spinosaurus last year was a glimmer of hope, but I'm disappointed to say nothing in the 2020 lineup looks good to me.

100% agreed, last two years with the Spinosaurus, Psittacosaurus, Oviraptor... I thought they were really improving and heading towards the proper direction, but this year they have come up with auwful models again >:(

Dinoxels

Let's just hope that their summer releases are at least a bit better.
Most (if not all) Rebor figures are mid

PrimevalRaptor

That Ceratosaurus was my first Schleich figure I got back then and despite finding it weird as heck back then too, I think that's also why I really liked it (and tbh many of the Replica-Saurus models have a certain charm to them)
It's an abomination for sure, but more like an ugly dog, you just gotta love it!

And agreed, like the Postosuchus and Baryonyx are nice but nothing really outstanding sadly. The Baryonyx was SO close to being great, but the stunted teeth and the sloppy, simple paintjob make it look worse than the sculpt could be and avatar_Silvanusaurus @Silvanusaurus really showed that off, if it looked like that, I'd instantly pick it up (even if the seam of the articulated jaw is a bit annoying)

GojiraGuy1954

Guys, remember; All of Schleich's good models last year (Except the spino) were released during the second wave, so we can hold out hope!
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

DragonRider02

I really, really hope we're getting a new Ceratopsian next summer. They seem to be Schleich's best dinosaurs.

Shonisaurus

The same can be done by a prehistoric mammal, maybe a paraceratherium or a uintatherium? Everything will be seen in June.

I sincerely confuse my wishes with reality, but I hope they make a decent prehistoric mammal. The current Schleich mammals are quite good in general terms.

Dinoxels

Schleich hasn't done a prehistoric mammal in a while. Seeing how their attempt at the Dinogorgon turned out, I would be interested to see something like a Shringasaurus or some sort of Dicynodont from them.

A peak at some of the Summer products

Nothing new in terms of Standalone models. Just some lame play sets with some LAZY Repaints that look like they were done by a preschooler

Sketchy

I am honestly livid at the amount of disappointment that Schleich has given me this year. I was hoping that maybe they would improve from the 5 figures they announced earlier in the year. But nope they just gotta somehow underwhelm me even more somehow. I don't understand how they can do so well last year and then just fail so hard this one.

Wow! Those look bad. Lame repaints, a playset and of course they have to add some random humans, which also look pretty bad. So what exactly are those humans doing? Attempting to capture these animals and are we meant to symphatize with them? Don't they know that life cannot be contained? Life breaks free. Life... finds a way.
