I've always wondered why manufacturers insist on making their dinosaurs look like they've just stepped off the set of a dental commercial. The browned, slightly bloodied look is much more naturalistic, especially on carnivores.

Shonisaurus

A @austrosaurus Totally agree with you is more natural and interesting. I have verified this with the Mojo 2020 baryonyx front and rear hooves repainted and that mark has left an effect on the figure unmatched. The Schleich brand could do the same (if she wanted to).

Especially since their teeth are continuously replaced by others: dental hygiene wasn't as important with dinosaurs as it is with mammals with their limited supply of teeth.

S @SidB Nice repaint! :) The way you sharpened the teeth ever so slightly makes it look better already. Let's face it, no kids would prick their fingers on that. No need to have them overly blunt to the point the predators look like planteaters.

Thank  you! It always amazes me how human beings often give into the temptation to lurch from on extreme or the other. Although there are plenty of cases and circumstances where something is one thing or another, in many others its NOT a matter of either/or, but of transitional states on a spectrum of possibilities. So. you're right, I sharpened them just enough to get around the silliness of over-blunted teeth than threatened to turn the predator into a misplaced herbivore.

Well, looks like they got a website now.
https://www.schleich-dinosaurs.com/en
This conforms that they are ripping off Arthuir Conan Doyle's The Lost World ( and his name )  AND Jurassic Park at the same time. Also confirmed are more repaints, including the stuff in their next Advent Calendar and ANOTHER Repaint of their T.rex ( or as they are calling it T-Rex ) After repainting it Gold, Red and Blue, it is now Red and Blue...The website also includes this cringy piece of text:
"Postosuchus
The dinosaurs of the genus Postosuchus are among the oldest dinosaurs of all. They are close relatives of today's crocodiles, and had long, narrow distinctive snouts. Most of the time they walked on four legs, but could also stand on their hind legs to catch prey with their claws. The sharp, dagger-like teeth cane be seen in their strong, flexible jaw."
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Is... Schleich trying to build a franchise around their figures now?

Shame that Schleich didn't include a female character.

And that T. rex looks like it's wearing red tights.

Yes

Because they were run by once lego excecutives, who did simaler things.

I wonder if this means theres no more single releases

My suspicion is that the mini-Renaissance of 2-3 years ago is over.

Whats so bad about that? None of the Park crew from Regualr Show are female in and they are still awesome. Not trying to be mean or anything

Halichoeres

For just a moment I was intrigued by the fish in the advent calendar, but they turn out to be the same nondescript, Lego-esque fish that are included with the brown bear from last year. They don't even have pelvic fins.

In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

It's called diversity and expanding the appeal of the line. And please don't even try to compare a toy line to an adult cartoon, that's straight up apples and carrots.

Dinoxels

What's sad about that video is that they used the stock Imovie Jungle sound.
Most (if not all) Rebor figures are mid

I got the Baryonyx and decided to give it a bit of a make-over; sharpened teeth and some extra detail with paint washes, dry-brushing, etc. Schleich gets a lot of valid criticism but I personally think this is a pretty darn great Baryonyx sculpt, much more attractive to my eye than the recent CollectA figure, its just a shame that its obscured by the flat production paint scheme.

And here it is with Schleich's old version, which is still probably the company's greatest achievement. The new Baryonyx is arguably slightly more 'accurate', but can one really say it is more 'truthful'?

Sorry for the late post, but I was looking for a cool Baryonyx figure and found the Schleich one to be my favorite sculpt but ruined by such a bland and "child toyish" paint application.
Silvanusaurus, I find your repaint outstanding, it really highlights the quality of this sculpt, showing it's potential.
Thank you, I think I'm going to do the same, but repainting it entirely myself.
I'm not really feeling working over the existing paint.

Sharpening the teeth is what's worrying me the most.
I might screw up everything, maybe I'll jsut leave the teeth alone...

First of all that was just a example and second of all Regular show is literally a kids show. And one time I did make a smoothie that had apples and carrots and it tasted good

It's an example that doesn't work at all. And if you're just going to be silly now, then that's the end of that.

Toys are for kids
Cartoons are for kids
Simple as that.
And besides, what is it with these western catchphrases
Apples and Carrots, what does that mean
I'm sorry Daniel I just dont know what you mean

Well that Team Dino thing is awkward and embarrassing. After LEGO and Playmobil another company jumps on the so called bandwagon. They probably paid lots of consultant companies for this crappy new approach, all of which have carefully studied management consultancy. Disgusting.

Just like LEGO, Schleich nowadays spend lots of money on lawyers, yes-persons and consultant companies instead of simply designing and marketing convincing products.
