It doesn't blow me away like the Gorgosaurus, but it's not too shabby. The colors on the body could maybe be a bit more mottled or with some darker accents, but I really like the head!

Dinoxels

I hate that it's in the Jurassic Park T.rex victory roar pose, and the coloration just doesn't do it for me. Looks nothing like the promo images.

For what Papo usually delivers in regards to paint job it looks plain. At least in that video it looks like it doesn't have a any washes or brushing techniques to make the details stand out like Papo usually does. And the promo pic made me think it wasn't a tripod and it looks like it is. I don't think it's terrible but it's not the usual standard for them.

The Papo stygimoloch is now available in online stores in continental Europe at shop.modellpferdeversand they already sell it through the purchase link. It comes individually.

Oh no, the paint job looks horrid! But a herbivore from Papo? It's gotta be purchased. I wish for just one year they'd release nothing but herbivores.

avatar_Atokensis @Atokensis Thanks for showing that video. Papo's stygimoloch is the size I always thought was small, but it is very well modeled. What I like best about this figure are the prominent horns on the head.

Justin_

I like it. I think it is a bit cheeky the way the official Papo photo makes it look as if it isn't in a tripod pose. However, seeing it properly it looks as if it is rising up from a resting position. It looks calmer than a lot of Papo figures. The feet don't look too big and although the hands will probably need a slight twist they aren't total bunny hands. I haven't bought any Papo figures for years but this might be an exception.

I don't know if it's ever been mentioned before but when you place the Giganotosaurus on the edge of a flat surface, it's tail actually doesn't touch the ground.

These dinosaurs all bore me, where's my Megaloceras?

Loon

? @Stolpergeist I really hope it isn't. It could just be releasing on its own like the Stygimoloch, but we'll see.

I hope it still hits the shelves before New Year.
As soon as I got it I might even be tempted to get a second one.

It might make for a good repaint, since we know wat the fur's patterns looked like. I'm thinking of getting mine repainted whenever it shows up.

Faelrin

I'm also still wondering what's going in with the Megaloceros. Easily one of my most anticipated figures this year. Hope it still releases even if late like what happened with the Spinosaurus last year.

avatar_Loon @Loon I'm out of the loop on the fur coloration. Any examples of this out there?

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin I read about it in Darren Naish's article:
http://tetzoo.com/blog/2018/9/9/the-life-appearance-of-the-giant-deer-megaloceros

It's based on some art found on a Cougnac cave wall.

avatar_Loon @Loon Thanks for the link. That's definitely different then I would have imagined it. Thank goodness those ancient people made some artwork depicting it. It is probably the closest we'll get to know its coloration, since we cannot see it alive anymore (unless there's a frozen corpse out there yet to be discovered), much like the case with the woolly rhino.

I could only hope that when another company that produces one, they go this route. It would also be way more unique anyways then copying some extant deer's coloration.

Edit: Well I'll be darned. I was searching for artwork of Megaloceros, to see if there's any other reconstructions of it out there depicted this way, when I saw that the WWB one has been done this way. So I guess I'm really no stranger to this coloration after all. Funny how it slipped my mind, despite how recent it was that I re-watched this show again. Despite how some things have not held up after all this time, I guess this is one thing that did at least. Figured I would pass this along here.

By the way, out of curiosity, when will the megaloceros be available? If it takes a long time for this figure to reach online stores, I can imagine how long it will take for it to reach physical stores, at least a month or two later.

SidB

We sure didn't get many mammals this year, so it would really be welcome very soon.

Mike Walley from ED commented on a post in one of the dinosaur FB groups. He said the megaloceros will be available from ED in a couple weeks.
