Geez, time sure does fly.

About the rubber + wire topic, is this flexible neck feature a first for BOTM figures? I am curious to see this now as I too was unaware of this feature.

avatar_Concavenator @Concavenator Got it. It was one of the things that drew me here in the first place. I wanted some place to discuss it in all my excitement for it, especially after JP Legacy closed down.

A fine merging of the modern and the retro indeed! Would've liked it even more if the king was standing atop a slain Triceratops!

Oh that's turned out absolutely amazing. I'm wondering if there will be a print of this too, like there was for the ceratopsian series Monoclonius? I certainly hope so at least. I also really love the traditional medium used here like the Monoclonius one. It's just not something you see much often anymore (or well at least I don't).

Edit: Just saw on the instagram post regarding this, that yes there will be a print of this, in the same dimensions as the previous two BotM prints (11" x 17").

How much was the Monoclonius print? I'm assuming this isn't something tossed in for free along with the exclusive toy.

Might pass on the print then. The T. rex by itself is expensive enough.

I love the art on the Monoclonius but it's on the box too so passed on the print.   I kinda wish this Rex art was more..darker? The Rulon box art seemed less happy than the DR box art..which this looks like lol

More important news!

UPDATE: After hearing from several fans concerned about missing out on the limited run 'Dino Riders homage' variant T. rex figure (to be offered tomorrow during the Beasts of the Mesozoic Tyrannosaur Series Kickstarter) I've decided to change its availability from 'limited' to 'exclusive'. This means that anyone who backs the Kickstarter will be able to order this item with no restrictions on quantity and it won't sell out during the campaign. Backers will also have a short period of time to add the item to an order in BackerKit after the campaign, funding permitting. In addition, the 'Walking with Dinosaurs homage' 1/35 T. rex will also be a Kickstarter exclusive and again will not be limited to quantity. The production numbers for these will be directly based on the Kickstarter backer pledges and neither are planned for a retail release. These special versions are purely a bonus and a 'thank you' to the fans who help make these figures possible, and I want to make sure that anyone backing the project has the opportunity to pledge for these items, even up to the final day.
And while we're on the topic, here are two package mock-ups for each of the special exclusive figures, featuring the art of Ezra Tucker and Raul Ramos respectively. Less than 24 hours now until the launch- check back tomorrow for the campaign link!

The kickstarter does not launch until tomorrow. 11AM EST, avatar_suspsy @suspsy posted a post and facebook link on the previous page explaining the price and various details regarding the WWD rex and exclusives.

Lynx

Alright, I'll take a look.
Really hyped for this, I love the concepts for the series.

Can't believe it is almost here now. Tomorrow can't come soon enough. Gonna be spending most of tomorrow updating this I feel.

Edit: avatar_Lynx @Lynx Please check out the first post on the first page (aka the op). It is filled with information for first time (or returning) backers.

Really love what's he done with the WWD T. rex packaging mockup, and the Dino Riders one as well. So glad to see neither will be super limited beyond being kickstarter exclusives. I'll add that to the op. No reason to wait really. The more that see it now, the better. That makes me hope the Guanlong is one of the cheapest, and one of the earlier stretch goals. I would be better off backing that one, and then adding the WWD T. rex in the backerkit survey, due to the cost of it, and being in a tight spot right now financially.

Edit 2: Some more important information regarding why there is no plans for a 1/18 WWD T. rex, and vice versa (comes from a comment from David, on the FB post regarding all this stuff):

QuoteSorry, I don't have any plans for WWD 1/18th scale T. rex. This smaller size works better as an homage since it's similar to the old toy. Same idea goes for the size of the Dino Riders T. Rex.

So I highly suggest if you want either/or and can afford them, do not hesitate to back this campaign!

It Looks like he took some inspiration from the og Toyway WWD T. rex packaging after all (I did send him these pics after I obtained this earlier in the year thanks to avatar_Duna @Duna so I am so very pleased to see this beautiful homage).

I'm also digging the newly updated icon for his FB profile (which I think is also a sneak peak for the final figure). Figured I share for anyone interested:

ahh this is a real let down. was really hoping for that 1/18 WWD rex.
oh well.

this old dawg ain't about to forget :')

Psittacoraptor

I forgot how stretch goals on KS work. The four rexes are the initial funding goal and once they're funded, the stretch goals with the other figures are unlocked. Can you then only back stretch goals without backing one of the initial goals (= T-rex)? I want a 1/18 rex but because the price is higher than 150€, I would have to pay additional customs tax on top of VAT, plus I'd have to deal with the customs office instead of just getting it delivered to my door. I'd rather not do that and just get the figure from everythingdinosaur later. So, I would prefer to just back some of the stretch goals, which will be less than 150€ (approx. 175$) and thus not subject to additional taxes. I want the Gorgosaurus, Yutyrannus, Dilong und Guanlong as well, the latter three should be less than 175$ at least, not sure about the Gorgo.

Dusty Wren

avatar_Psittacoraptor @Psittacoraptor, yes, you can back stretch goals without having to buy one of the rexes. As the stretch goals are unlocked, David will start adding new tiers to the Kickstarter page for those figures, and you can select  those for your rewards instead of the rexes.

It's a good idea to pledge even before your preferred stretch goals get unlocked, though, since that boosts the funding and makes it more likely that every figure will get funded. You can change your rewards and your pledge amount at any time before the end of the campaign.
Check out my customs thread!

Not quite up yet, but here's the kickatarter link (goes up at 11 est, roughly 2 and a half hours from now):

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/creativebeast/beasts-of-the-mesozoic-tyrannosaur-series-action-figures

I'll add this in the op (first post on first page), up and rearing to go after my morning responsibilities are taken care of (since I just got up).

Edit: Alright up in the op now. Cleaned up and moved some things into the Other information section at the bottom of the post (the old logo, and other instagram links regarding kickstarter info prior to it launching). I will be changing the title once it launches to hopefully help make folks aware. And then after that, then begins updating it with more images, information regarding stretch goals, and assuming its possible, I'd like to have the funding meter up and visible there as well. Though of course the kickstarter is better to be keeping an eye on from here nonetheless.
