I'm so glad I invested in a new gaming PC last year when prices dropped to somewhat more reasonable levels during the summer, the prices right now are nuts, I think it the first time for as long as I can remember where my PC is actually gaining in value of time.

I think the biggest plus for playing it on PC is the options for mods, performance and controls should be fine on consoles.

It is really sad for me, that this is a licensed Game overall. They already have Planet Zoo. I would have loved a full priced DLC on prehistoric Life, implemented in Planet Zoo. But in the End, Prehistoric Kingdom will do that. I hope :D A nice Alpha/Beta does not make a great Release in the end.

A prehistoric life DLC, even if would only contain more "recently" extinct animals like the Dodo, Moa or Thylacine would be cool, especially since Planet Zoo handles terrain manipulation and exhibit build so much better the JW:E.

As if I didn't have enough stuff to manage with the BotM campaign, got another info dump today for this game. The Development Diary 2 was released today:

Some important things that were revealed so far:
A new mosasaur with a fluked tail (any thoughts what this could be? Already seen folks thinking it could be Tylosaurus, Platecarpus, and Prognathodon)
Brief overview of both Campaign and Chaos Theory modes (including a look at both TLW and JW scenarios)
Buck and doe skins for the Tyrannosaurus are returning
First look at the Indominus rex (and tropical biome returning)

Finally our first look at pack hunting with the Velociraptor Field Guide (first look at Sinoceratops too I think):

Gotta say did it bring back some JPOG nostalgia. I really hope I can experience this game someday. What a massive improvement from the first.

Looking pretty good. The anticipation for this game finally got me to hop back on the first one this week and play some more.

Nope. I assume it's Tylosaurus though, since that's soft-canon (JPTG)
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

yeah ive heard this quite a bit. looks too small though? and the anatomy is pretty off. i believe its a platecarpus

Tylosaurus, Pictured above. More streamlined with different proportions. smaller tail fluke and longer snout. much bigger than Platecarpus

Platecarpus, a smaller mosasaur famous for its shark like tail fluke.

Tylosaurus maybe cause of the JPTG reference and also it looks like it's got the stripes just like in the game.

Coincidentally the JPTG Tylo also has very similar colours to the Primeval Raptors actually.

I could be wrong about it being a Tylo but it would make sense, then again it does look more like a Platecarpus.
Walking With Beasts is the best palaeo media documentary and no one can persuade me otherwise.

That is largely speculation. We don't have preserved fluke material from either of them.

avatar_Reuben03 @Reuben03 It isn't preserved per se, but safely inferred due to the shape of the tail vertebrae, etc. The paper describing it was also published before the discovery of the Prognathodon sp. specimen ERMNH HFV 197 which directly preserved soft tissue evidence of such.

Relevant papers for both:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2918493/
https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms3423

Probably plenty more on the topic, but these two came to mind as I read up on them pretty recently.

Honestly I think maybe in the next year I'd like to do some massive catching up on marine reptiles, etc.

Okay expect a huge update to this thread's info as I delve into the below videos (if not more). Already heard about 10(?) returning species, but want to see them for myself before adding the to thread. Apparently a lot of stuff regarding Chaos Theory mode dropped today.

Right off the bat I'll mention I've already seen evidence of:
Spoiler

Dilophosaurus returning, as well as the TLW Velociraptor skin (though that was also sort of visible in a screenshot from the JWE2 website). Got the Doe and Buck skins returning as well (they also have an animation to eat from a meat feeder like they ripped apart Eddie in TLW film).

Other species I've seen mentioned that are returning but I have yet to see include: Apatosaurus, Chungkingosaurus, Crichtonsaurus, Dryosaurus, Gigantspinosaurus, Maiasaura, Mamenchisaurus, Suchomimus, Troodon

Also just saw confirmation of some of the available decorations (planters, return of signs, etc).

Edit: Okay all I really had to do was browse the JWE subreddit sorted by new to see images of this stuff which I'll add below:

Elasmosaurus and Liopleurodon confirmed :)

oh sweet! when in the vid does he mention that?

avatar_Kapitaenosavrvs @Kapitaenosavrvs I was just coming here to mention that, lol. Will be updating the thread again. I've also seen Indoraptor confirmed as well (which was expected tbh). Specifically it was a screen cap from one of Swrve's videos showing that the Velociraptor hates it (and it also likes the Indominus rex).

I guess I've also been behind on this, but looks like Kentrosaurus, and possibly Stygimoloch, and Homalocephale are also returning (which could be spotted in the Scientist Management video, but the latter two do use the original JWE icon silhouettes). Spinosaurus was also confirmed/namedropped on the August monthly stream at the 2 hour and 22 minute mark (which I watched and forgot about adding back then, so good to be reminded of it). Honestly it is probably safe to say the two pachycephalosaurids will be in the game as well, and one is a film canon animal anyways.

avatar_Reuben03 @Reuben03 Around the 8 min mark. He also mentions them being fan requested favorites, so good to see they've been looking at some of the community ideas.

So that means the base game will have at least 6 (minimum) marine reptiles. I wonder if that means there will also be 6 pterosaurs then, if not 6 new dinosaurs as well?

Also did some math. Assuming the total number of species is more then the development build, based on the steam store page's description of 75+, then perhaps the max at most will be 79. There were 68 total JWE animals, 67 if subtracting the Huayangosaurus which is included in the Deluxe Edition. Subtract the 12 confirmed new species from 79 and you get 67. I think there will be some cuts from the final roster, especially if we get at least 2 more pterosaurs, if not more dinosaurs as well. I think the hybrids (Ankylodocus, Stegoceratops, and Spinoraptor), are likely to be cut, along with possibly the animals showing up in Dominion. To be honest I would gladly ditch the hybrids for some more new species based on real animals anyways. That would at least free up 3-6 spots for new species.

Dominion species spoilers:
Spoiler

Some folks think they have seen Giganotosaurus and Dreadnoughtus as well (specifically in this image on the JWE2 website), and while it seems plausible, I feel like we need better material to work from at this point then zooming in a ton on that one pic. I'm also skeptical as both of those have been entirely redesigned for Dominion as seen in the preview, etc.

Very happy to see Suchomimus confirmed, and with its original design intact. It was definitely my favorite dinosaur in the first game.

Yesterday was the Plesiosaurus Species Field Guide:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/species-field-guide-plesiosaurus.591443/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtrzmFifE2U

Also my brother bought me a new laptop last night and with the specs needed to play it (short of ram for recommended, but that can get upgraded later, no big). Absolutely surprised me! Granted I may need to put off getting the game until December or later likely, but it's not as long as I was fearing now.
