Hello everyone,

My name is Mike and I want to thank every single one of you for keeping this hobby as vibrant as ever. Collecting dinosaur models was a big part of my childhood, something I've missed dearly and haven't been able to revisit until now. My son is currently 3 1/2 yo, and I hope to introduce him to our precious hobby and turn him into a Jr. Paleontologist as the collection develops.

All of my toys have been lost, so I am starting the collection from scratch. Seeing as how Jurassic Park fueled my love for dinosaurs so much, I've started off with a pair of Papo T-Rex's, and the Nanmu Female Rex. If I can get my hands on a W-Dragon one, I might have to snag one of those too, but they seem harder to find.

Thank you all so very much - can't wait to learn more about the world I left behind, oh so many years ago.

//Mikey

It is to appreciate those words that you express by the DTF. It is honestly a beautiful and healthy hobby, I am sorry that you have lost the entire collection, but as you say the question is to redo it as you are doing.

Welcome to the DTF.

Welcome to the forum here, and hope you enjoy your time here, for however long.

I know the feeling of having to start from scratch after losing things. My first exposure to dinosaurs was probably Land Before Time and eventually Jurassic Park, and shortly afterwards the video game Primal Rage.

I remember when I first joined this forum years ago in 2016, I had just acquired a few of the Hasbro JW toys. Now it's expanded to over 20 brands I think, with over 100's of figures. A few years before I had lost nearly everything in a storage unit after some rough moves, many of which I had in childhood. It took many years (alongside ups and downs of having funds for such) to get to what I have now. In other words it'll be interesting to see how you will grow your collection from here, as it is a reflection of us in turn, and where we are through time, just as the fascinating creatures, etc that came before us.

A really good resource that popped up in recent years is the dinotoycollector website maintained by avatar_DinoToyCollector @DinoToyCollector on the forum here (who also has his own brand called Wild Past) which allows you to manage your collection and wishlist of stuff. Of course there's also the blog connected to the forums here, and there's always toyanimalwiki too.

Hey partner,

Thank you for sharing your story - and for sharing some useful links! Unfortunately, your story is all too familiar. But looking back, I know half of the joy was the journey itself, so I am very much optimistic in exploring this hobby once more - and now with better tools at my disposal! Internet sure beats hoarding magazines and cut outs, which was how I did it before.

Thank you all once more!
