avatar_Lynx @Lynx Perhaps you might want to dig through this thread I updated yesterday? I extensively covered all the film canon species and variations currently available (although need to re-add Camp Cretaceous stuff still, and a few other soft canon ones like the Telltale game based Herrerasaurus and Troodon, etc). I think it would be subjective on what the "best" is though.

Edit: Of course the link is in my signature too, but it won't be visible to anyone with signatures turned off, like myself.

What is the best Mattel figure that is a species featured in the franchise ?

The Brachiosaurus hands down

In terms of what? Playability, detail, sheer size, or just over all?

Over all, I'm trying to find some nice Mattel figures to add to the collection since I'm lacking in any decent ones.

Quote from: Carnoking on August 15, 2022, 09:01:50 PMTheir original Carnotaurus is still my high water mark. Even if there have been objectively better offerings, it's still my favorite toy from all their lines.

One of my favorites as well, planning to get that one specifically in my hands soon.
The coloring on it is BEAUTIFUL and far superior than most of the stuff we're getting at the moment.

I'll also agree that the original Carnotaurus is a fantastic figure. The coloration is quite similar to the maquette used for the film too. Or at least how it appears because of the lighting used. In any case I quite like it.

The Brachiosaurus is also a masterpiece. By far love to see it there after every time I wake up (and also the Apatosaurus now as well). Incredibly faithful to the original film design.

If I were to pick one from this year it would be the HC T. rex even though I don't have it in hand yet. But it really nails the likeness to SWS work on it for the first film.

Cretaceous Crab

I would have to agree that the LC original Brachiosaurus and the 2018 Action Attack Carnotaurus are among the most screen-accurate figures. The original Roarivore Baryonyx and the Attack Pack Stygimoloch are as well. The Destroy n Devour Indominus rex also hit the mark pretty well, too.

Gwangi

I also have to say the Brachiosaurus, which is also one of my favorite toys from Mattel. But also the HC T. rex, despite the large feet, and the HC Triceratops.

suspsy

Probably the Brachiosaurus because it wasn't so long ago that no one dreamed such a massive toy would ever be made.

I think I'll get the Brachiosaurus and the carnotaurus, then!

Quite personally I'm not fond of some of the carnos more recent repaints, same for the bary.

Indominus (Original version), Mosasaurus (Either will do, one has a more accurate colour scheme), Carnotaurus (Normal or Toro), Stegosaurus (The one with the cage on the tail or the Legacy TLW one)
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

PrimevalRaptor

Throwing in another vote for the Carnotaurus, it's one of the few larger Mattel toys I own and it's a really great figure, the articulation and gimmick are neat and it looks pretty cool (and movie-accurate) too. The Quetzalcoatlus is also pretty neat as well.

Faelrin

Yeah can't believe I forgot about the Indominus rex, and Mosasaurus. Very good with their likeness as well.

As avatar_GojiraGuy1954 @GojiraGuy1954 mentioned the new Legacy Stegosaurus set is pretty good and the baby is even more accurate then the adult. The Dino Escape one he mentioned (with the capture gear, released last year) is pretty faithful to one the designs in Camp Cretaceous as well.

Can't believe I forget to also mention the figures of baby Bumpy and the baby Brachiosaurus either. I mean not perfect 1:1 but close enough, and some of the best of the small range figures.

Yes, the Quetzalcoatlus is my favorite mainline figure this year. Until I get the Dreadnoughtus.

Might get this set for the pure reason it doesn't feature a Velociraptor, which is a breath of fresh air. A little bothered by the ptera and dilo not matching the film color schemes, but I don't mind too much.

Owens in this set for some reason?? I have no idea why they decided to slap him in there
An oversized house cat.

CityRaptor

Wouldn't be the first set of this kind. And him being in there at least makes more sense than Lego putting them in their Camp Cretaceous themed sets.
Back to this set: Kinda looks like they are begging him for treats.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Ew. I get big companies are never friends, but just yikes. NFT's is a new low from Mattel.
