But here's the problem, which I've stated before. Jurassic Park is not Star Wars. By Jurassic Park's very nature, the Amber line will never get close to the popularity of the Star Wars Black Series figures (which I collect here and there).

Jurassic, unlike Star Wars, is not a franchise that is collectively carried by hundreds of different well-loved humanoid characters and droids in unique science fantasy costumes and armor, with blasters and lightsabers. The humans in the Jurassic movies are usually just running or staying out of the way of the dinosaurs. The Amber line is scaled to focus on the human characters, but there are maybe only up to a dozen Jurassic human figures that I think anyone would ever be interested in collecting at the 6" size. Star Wars by contrast can more than thrive on humanoid characters alone.

Do we really think the Kirbys will ever see the 6-inch treatment? Or Eddie Carr, Ken Wheatley, or Dr. Wu? Even Roland Tembo? I certainly don't expect these to ever be produced. They simply wouldn't sell. I don't really know where they think they are going to go with this Amber stuff.

This.

IMO They shouldn't have focused on the scale and should have just given a collector-oriented line of super articulated dinosaur figures. So those that aren't necessarily in 1/12th scale, but figures that are around the 6-7 inch size because now by sticking to the 1/12th scale they've run out of dinosaurs to do. We have endless raptors because besides Velociraptor and Dilophosaurus, what other iconic dinosaur can you do? A baby T. rex, maybe, but a baby T. rex without an adult just seems silly. I think if Amber Collection is going to market itself to the collector market, then scale shouldn't be too much of an issue because the majority of collectors are really just looking for something to put on their shelf, rather than setting up intricate dioramas, but this are just my thoughts on collecting things such as Godzilla and whatnot. SH Monsterarts tried doing an accurate scale with their Showa era Godzilla figures, everyone hated it, so they justifiably went back on it and just focused on making Godzilla figures that were around the same size regardless of accurate scale.

If they just focused this line on humans and dinosaurs they could do in this scale  I would be ok with that.  They have a LOT of human figures, main characters mind you, we don't have.  Dinosaur wise, yeah I baby Trex would work with a Sarah Hardling /Nick Van Owen figure. They don't need to be full dioramas just the figures and accessories like with Nedry.   A pack of compies with Dieter, a Pachy juv , Stygimoloch, there are other dinos in the right size and it could work.

Big Bad Toy Store now has preorder listings for the Pteranodon, TLW Tiger Raptor, and a new version of Malcolm up. I checked the Pteranodon and it has an expected arrival or ship date or March. So I guess these may be coming out right around the corner.

I would have bought any other character over Malcolm..lol  I managed to get the first one half price at Gamestop.

There are plenty more dinosaurs they could do in this scale. A Compsognathus pack, baby rex, Stygimoloch, baby Blue, baby Stegosaurus, Dimorphodon, and the smaller Jurassic World Pteranodon are all roughly the same size as the raptors or smaller. Imagine compy 3 packs and the baby dinosaurs sold at a slightly lower price point to flesh out the line.

And really, doing Gallimimus or a properly 1:12 JP3 Pteranodon would only be slightly larger (in package anyway) than the raptors are. There is potential there for some seriously cool weirdness, like giving Gallimimus an optional saddle or something, which could give it some broader appeal with general 6 inch scale collectors given the species isn't perhaps popular enough to sell well to general audiences on name alone.

Without even going super far from the popular film species there are options like the JP3 baby Pteranodons, Mononykus, Microceratus, (Kenner throwback?) Dimetrodon, the list goes on.
Trans rights are human rights.

The only human figures I've bought were in a couple of two-packs with dinosaurs; I think it was the Cyclops Raptor and the small Triceratops from the JP: Dinosaurs line. I gave them away at the first opportunity. Actually, I may even have thrown them in the garbage. Honestly can't recall.

I will say, I think there are options for the midsized offerings for the line, but when I see people asking for larger species all I can say is careful what you wish for.

Spino has Camp Cretaceous packaging. Hopefully not exlusive.

My friend avatar_Reuben03 @Reuben03 showed this image:

It looks like Ceratosaurus

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Stegotyranno420

avatar_CityRaptor @CityRaptor you got a link to that article? I wish to read it.

On another note, some new stuff is starting to hit shelves!

I was just at Target in central Washington state and grabbed the new Troodon and "Kenner throwback colors" Gallimimus. Troodon has some really nice fine scale detail all over its body (even though it should be feathered). I love the Gallimimus, even though it's now my third copy of this sculpt.

They also had the new purple/orange Sarcosuchus and Baryonyx Grim out for sale.

Also have to say I really like that new paint on Spinosaurus. I'll be happy with my dark blue Dino-Damage Spinosaurus, but very nice colors on the new one!

Well, it might not be scientifically accurate, but it's at least somewhat ( but not completey ) accurate to their appearence in Jurassic Park: The Game. The alternative ( based on the Jurassic World: Live Tour ) would have looked like an oversized Compy.

won't be surprised if they do another version later on that's green.
but i love it yeah, hope they do a tylosaurus like the one from the telltale game!

but with a tail fluke.
...tail fluke or nothing
thats my mosasaur policy lol

Anyone seen the pictures of the Amber Collection Tiger Raptor? It popped up in my Instagram feed for a bit only to disappear without a trace. I was expecting them to surface around here later, but no luck.
If anyone is interested in how it looked :
It was on par with the raptor squad figures. Simplified version of the movie design.
The stripes were a medium brown, close to the patterns of the "real" one, but on the face the don't go up to the top or the snout.
The back doesn't have a dark tone to it, just orange with the stripes running across the top.
The sides of the face seemed more white(or maybe cream) than orange.

I'll probably detail it a little bit to enhance when I get it. I already have a custom painted one, but I'll get the official one anyway.
