Quote from: Concavenator on May 04, 2022, 07:43:35 PMIf that dromaeosaurid is indeed Velociraptor, why is a tyrannosaurid there to begin with? AFAIK, there hasn't been a single described tyrannosaurid hailing from the Djadochta Formation.

As previously mentioned, there's Tarbosaurus sp.: https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=7869.msg318261#msg318261

Tarbosaurus and Velociraptor lived at the same time and are both from the Gobi. Its completely reasonable to assume they would've met in.

Tarbosaurus bataar and Velociraptor mongoliensis are not found in the same formation

Why do people get so hung up on formations?  I doubt these animals just stayed in a small localized area...
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

They didn't live at exactly the same time. Velociraptor is older, it's estimated to have gone extinct at least 1 million years before the first Tarbosaurus to appear.

I'm pretty sure Gabriel Ugueto, who worked on Prehistoric Planet to some degree, confirmed it was a Velociraptor shortly after the trailer dropped.
Darren Naish clarified that it's more complicated than that
Also has anyone seen BestInSlot new video we  got episodes titles and some species confimation now.

On another note, based on Naish's response, it's probably safe to conclude that Velociraptor is certainly not V.mongoliensis.

There was another Velociraptor species in Nemegt, alongside Tarbosaurus and Deinocheirus...

Yeah I watched both videos yesterday after your recommendation he's pretty spot on with his guesses and speculation.

New PP images!: https://www.apple.com/tv-pr/originals/prehistoric-planet/episodes-images/

I guess I was wrong about the nuzzling T. rex scene being in "Forests". Makes me wonder if the velociraptorine scenes are in different episodes. More specifically, maybe the waterfall is an indication that the velociraptorine trio is in "Freshwater" (as opposed to "Deserts").

Well Dreadnoughtus is now confirmed under one of the images.

Fembrogon

Mmm, more wallpaper images? Don't mind if I do...

Also, Dreadnoughtus appears to be on the fast track to becoming a household name at this rate!

Is it an undescribed one? V.mongoliensis comes from the Djadochta Formation, and V.osmolskae from the Bayan Mandahu Formation.

Last I knew just Velociraptor sp., though it may actually have been renamed since I'm not finding anything on it.

Got AppleTv+ today and we are about a week away from Prehistoric Planet. Anybody planning on revisiting other paleodocs or Planet Earth to prepare?

Fembrogon

I still haven't seen any cuts of the WWD 3D movie, so I'm thinking of watching the (ahem) "Prehistoric Planet" edition narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch while it's still up on YouTube.
I also need to check out my DINOTASIA blu-ray I got for cheap fairly recently.

That got me really excited until I clicked the link.  :)) (I was kind of hoping for a reputable major manufacturer.)

I recently just watched When Dinosaurs Roamed America. My favorite documentary that has ever been made(yes even over WWD)! Honestly, will most likely be still a core memory of mine and continue to rewatch it on occasions, but I can't lie that it will most likely be passed by Prehistoric Planet in terms of favoritism.

Really does warm my heart that people are revisiting some of the older documentaries in preparation for this new one!
